Rooted SD card question

Just Rooted my HTC hero form Telus and I have one question. I"ve loaded Vilain ROM 5.2, I might/ prob change to a modaco ROM as I heard to many good things from their ROM.. My question is can I put another SD card in my phone or I have to keep the one I created a gold card with? ( Since I'm a Telus Mobility customer) Or can I create another GoldCard and put that one in, I used the 2gb one that Telus ave me with the phone but I want to use a 8gb...
