Guest barbarony62 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 (edited) Hello friends. Unfortunately, I have given up on 6.5 roms in general and m2dv2 specifically ....(and I must have tried all the roms available here from top quality Michelin chefs, medium level lunchroom cooks, and just for fun I am sure I tried roms from some of the "burger flipper wannabe cooks") 2 reasons for my decision:I had too many problems with battery drain (could not isolate a specific app, or process that did it)I had too many restarts in m2dv2 -- and automatic restart did not always work2 questions:Does anybody know if battery drain is solved in 6.5 and m2dv2? Can anybody recommend a 6.5 ROM that will actually be at par with 6.1 romsIs the restart problem of m2dv2 solved consistently?or maybe, I am just hallucinating??? (them mushrooms last night were pertty gooood...) Barbarony62 Edited April 22, 2010 by barbarony62
Guest Kev23 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 (edited) Dude, no way I could ever go back to 6.1.... What sort of battery life were you getting with 6.5 ??... I normally get 2-2.5 days out of mine I have noticed that the new m2d roms seem to kill battery quicker.... guessing because it needs more of the phones resources. One thing I did is to use m2d customiser and remove tabs i didn't need which helped. I personally haven't had any problems with rebooting the phone (or needing to) with M2D..... when you try flashing don't install anything for a day or 2, and have a chance to test phone, then if things are working properly then gradually add 1 app at a time so that you can test if any are causing a problem. You can also try a manilla classic ROM... i'm currently using Ock's 23557... and is brilliant (99% bug free). http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...ralite-premium/ Forgot to add... Ock's 23557 ROMS are his blog site: http://myi900.blogspot.com/2010/04/build-23557.html Edit no 3 ;) ALWAYS remember to hard reset after flashing a new ROM... I found this stops problems from occurring. Edited April 21, 2010 by Kev23
Guest stirkac Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 6.5 roms are just full load of bloatware on old CE 5-same kernel that's there since WM5... you cannot expect it to work better just by adding (halfway-done)eyecandy. It's just like Vista and XP... Try with installing M2Dv2 to 6.1 and apply black theme form joža... won't feel like win95 anymore. I also advise KC's 6.1 20001 from OmniaII rom cause it has inbuilt FTouchSL, you get kinetic scrolling all over OS, just like 6.5... You will be suprised how fast can omnia boot&run ;)
Guest barbarony62 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Thank you both for this valuable information. I have done some of what you recommended, and I am on KC's 6.1 20001 from OmniaII rom... will update you after I proceed further... regards Barbarony62

Totaly respect to Khuanchai!

THIS ROM you choose, is the very BEST choice! Add M2D user interface too... perhaps Panoramic Launcher too... and you'll have a COMPLETELY different phone! Cheers.

I know what I need, and how to choose it.... I am back to 6.1 because I am not happy with 6.5 -- when 6.5 improves (if it does), I will go back to it again
Guest kalekume Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 but KC's 6.1 rom from OmniaII neither is perfect. Mouse doesn't work....... I have used 6.1 Shokka SHKvRC - LITE rom the last 2 or 3 months, neither perfect. I have got lot of "Replog.exe" errors. On Monday i went back to 6.5, OCK's premium rom. I'm happy with it. (i have no m2v2 restarts)
Guest Sb. Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 I get about 2 days with 6.5 but whats so hard about putting it to charge? I charge mine up every night or if I'm at the comp ill plug it into the USB. I actually have longer battery life with 6.5 and would never go back to 6.1 even if my battery lasted half a day, it just looks too sh*t! Another question is do you really need M2D if it drains so much and you want to maximize battery life?
Guest andrew.mazlim Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 but KC's 6.1 rom from OmniaII neither is perfect. Mouse doesn't work....... ;) ;) ;) "Big deal"!!!!! Name me one or two roms, that the mouse is working!!!! Jesus, is THIS the "big problem" of KC's 6.1 build 2100???

No "fancy" effects, no animations, nothing for my M2D, I don't even like that much effects on my screen.
Guest tractor101 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 LOL - maybe the phone is the problem ;) Running a fat flotanium right now (on an i910) and it's running smooth and relatively fast. No problem with the battery either, but then again, like it was mentioned before - i stick it on the charger every night! ;)

Guest JaGuR Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 (edited) Agree with 6.1 over 6.5. Since going back to 6.1, no more resets, running out of memory, and my phone is so much more responsive. I am using sinans lite 6.1, with m2dv1, takes a bit of work to get it to where it should be, but once that is done, couldn't be happier. Have all the omnia lite apps, with touchpal, and it rocks. Leave me out of 6.5, it's all hype ;) Edited April 22, 2010 by JaGuR

Jesus, is THIS the "big problem" of KC's 6.1 build 2100??? mouse is working on all 6.1 roms, it is an issue from 6.5 roms. For me is a big deal because 6.1 rom is not "touch optimized". I use a lot the mouse, mainly with settings. @JaGuR maybe a give a try to sinans lite 6.1
Guest Sb. Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Dont forget that if Tom,Dick and Harry's phone lasts 3-4 or maybe 5 days that doesn't mean that you will get the same on your phone. My phone is 1 1/2 years old with constant charge every night regardless of battery level so I cant expect it to last 4-5 days like it was new and there's other factors as well, for example when you flash a new ROM you have to hard reset and charge it over night as sometimes the phone will go into overdrive and munch up the battery so a good charge seems to fix that. Like I said I'm using 6.5 with either M2D,throttle launcher or SPB and I don't notice any crazy battery drain and they all seem to work flawlessly. Sometimes when you flash a new ROM your constantly playing around with it especially if its got something new and exciting or installing all your apps and getting it set up right, and that will definitely be the cause of some peoples fast battery drain.

Guest barbarony62 Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Friends, Thanks for the many comments and suggestions. In order for this thread to be of any value, lets try to refrain from comments like "if you use it more, you drain the battery more" I know that if I use it, I drain it.. I know that if I drop it, I break it... I know that if I turn it off, it won't work... I am am certain that if I forget it in an unknown location, it will be "lost". You need to be aware that I have used the device for 18 months now.. I started with the standard rom, flashed quite a few roms and ended up with Shokka's 6.1 for quite a while (excellent roms).... than moved to 6.5, stayed with it for close to a month (many different roms) and I am now back to 6.1 (KC 21001 from omnia II) Useful comments include: Install this is that lite rom, and avoid m2dv2hard reset after a flash (if you were not doing it already)Install "the special cab" from this or that guychange your registry to: blah blahconfigure that setting to: this or that... telling me to "charge every night, reduce the contrast and brightness, not use between 2 and 4 PM, etc etc" does not get me to where I want to be... a 6.5 rom that services me the same way the 6.1 did, with my current needs (which have not changed between 6.1 and 6.5) -- (and please do not tell me that it depends what my current needs are.. they are the same as they always were.... 6.1 gave me 3-4 days of battery life... 6.5 gives me less than 24 hours...) ...and yes, I do not mind if you decide not to comment if you have no new ideas... cheers....

My dear friend, you finding me completely agree with you! I think you notised, I wrote (quite) above, how much HUGE supporter of Khuanchai I am and how MUCH I love this "port from OMNIA II" 6.1 rom!!! Believe me, the main "reason" I'm re-flashing these months 6.5s, is... the black background (with or without wallpaper) behind the crolling programs  !!!!!!! Yes, I know, it sounds TOTALY STUPID "flashing" a 6.5, for... the visual look of the background! Hehehe... At least, I'm still "flashing" Khuanchai's 6.5 :P ! (Btw... your comment about Stuart's rom was right! His 6.1s were AMAZING! Also t2008's, Radd's & Ryrzy's.) Anyways... Rephrase the comments above, I didn't catch your meaning. Cheers, Andy. Guest Sb. Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 ...and yes, I do not mind if you decide not to comment if you have no new ideas... cheers.... This is a forum where everyone puts their 2 cents in, sometimes its useful and sometimes it might not be what you were after but someone else reading it with a similar problem could find it useful. I dont think theres any need to be so sarcastic to other peoples comments and if you wrote that you needed a miracle cure to make your phone last 10 days no one would have answered. Everyone put up their own perspective and answered your questions with every known way possible Your topic post was "why I went back to 6.1" and you asked two questions: 1. Does anybody know if battery drain is solved in 6.5 and m2dv2? Can anybody recommend a 6.5 ROM that will actually be at par with 6.1 roms 2. Is the restart problem of m2dv2 solved consistently? or maybe, I am just hallucinating??? (them mushrooms last night were pertty gooood...) You say that you've tried almost every single 6.5 ROM and had battery drain. As a lot of us using 6.5 we do not have that issue with battery drain or the restart problem and I can say that I have not had any of these issues for well over 6 months Have you updated your phone part? This is the only other thing that I could recommend. Cheers
Guest barbarony62 Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 Sb. Yes. I was a bit sarcastic, and for that I apologize... to you, and whoever else might have taken offence. Thanks. I have updates the phone part. If you have had the phone for 6 months on 6.5, have no battery drain issues, and have no m2dv2 restarts, I am hopeful I can get mine to do the same (I am sure its not the device itself, as it operates flawlessly in 6.1) so back to the drawing (err flashing) board....

Guest dimera Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 Well, there are great cookers, which 6.5 ROMs are fantastic. I've used for a month OCK ROMs but yesterday I went back to Khuanchai's 6.1 ROM. In my opinion the battery issue is not that significant. The memory usage is the main problem. Who knows may be one day I will try again wm6.5 ROMs.
