Guest jimborae Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Reflashed my Desire on my work pc and Symantec kicked in thinking it found a virus with adb.exe and halted the process & quarrantined the file. Now everytime I try and reflash on a different PC I get the dreaded error(110):file open error on the PC. Disconnect the phone & all I get is a black screen & HTC logo. Nice. Thanks Symantec you've just bricked my Desire!! Anybody able to help???

I would had contacted Symentec and tell them to buy you a new phone. If the don't listen.. sue them all ! :-P
Guest zaphod0 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 If it can't be fixed without opening it, it's still under warranty. Contact who ever you bought it off, tell them you followed all instructions and the firmware update failed.
Guest scotch whisky Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Have you tried the folowing:- 1.With the phone off, hold the Volume Down button and press and release the Power button. 2.Select Clear Storage from the list by pressing the Volume Down button. 3.Press the Power button, and confirm by pressing Volume Up. 4.Sit back and pray.

Yep, sadly it wont boot into recovery. Oh well I guess it's got to be returned, that's gonna be a pain in the ass. ;)
Guest jimborae Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 *UPDATE* - Fixed. Removed the battery, left it for a few hours then reflashed on a different pc and it flashed fine. Then thought I'd try & repeat so reflashed with the older rom from XDA and got the error again and again couldn't flash back to the newer. Removed the battery left for an hour and then could reflash again and get it working!! Wierd
Guest afiorillo Posted April 23, 2010 Report Posted April 23, 2010 (edited) Sounds definitely like a corrupted download. Edited April 23, 2010 by afiorillo
