I should then be able to re-apply the dec update, and then be able to flash the new eclair update.zip. If that works, I should have a rooted Pulse running Eclair :D Of course I would then upload it immediately :P Greetings, BigBear ok i am not going to ask.... Surely you could just reflash the eclair.zip and be root? So your way is 1. Wipe 2. December udate 3. ???? 4. UPLOAD!!! (/ Profit) :P EDIT : @Ashbeard - that's just nasty... (I agree!) If that works, I should have a rooted Pulse running Eclair :P Unfortunately I doubt that will work. It will only fool the Android operating system but not the phone. Android doesn't have to be loaded when installing the updata.app. It's likely your phone will still reject the December update because it has that version string stored somewhere else, and we can't change that. At least not without modifying the updata.app which is impossible - as you know we would need to regenerate the checksums and I've never been able to establish whereabouts in the file they are, or what algorithms generate them. The updata.app file changes far more than just the Android operating system and I suspect any mistake could easily result in a bricked phone so I would avoid editing that file if possible. Personally I'm happy to wait a few more days for the official update. Then once we install the official update we'll have the same partition layout as you and installing your rooted ROM should become a hell of a lot easier.
