omnia lite

I have just bought a new samsung omni lite. my sms inbox tells me there is 1 new message but there is nothing in the inbox. when i turn it off and back on again it has 3 random messages that i have already deleted back in the inbox and says i have 4 new messages. when i delete the three again it goes back to 1 new message but theres still nothing there.

can anyone suggest anything?
