Guest david_dawkins Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 Hi all, I'm in the US for a few days and looking for a decent Skype-like client. Latest "Skype for 3" is no good and "fring" is giving me a lot of choppy audio. I'm wireless-only, so looking to make VoIP calls to landline numbers in UK (like SkypeOut). Anyone out there recommend a client that works well for them on their Pulse/U82x0? Thanks! Dave

Guest brack Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 I use sipagent in conjunction with internetcalls.com I believe it has free calls to land lines in UK.

Brack, I registered with internetcalls and installed sipagent; what do you enter for "Domain" when setting up sipagent?

Guest le_lutin Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 I am using fring. It is a front end that lets you have access to a number of other protocols. I use it as a front end for Skype and it allows me to use my Skype Out as well. The OP said that "fring is giving me a lot of choppy audio." in his first post.
Guest brack Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 (edited) Thanks everyone. Guest david_dawkins Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Let us know if you get sorted with this mate...I use fring with no probs but free uk calls mmm interesting ! It works a lot better, and I can hear my wife perfectly now, but now she can't hear me! The wifi signal in this house we're staying in seems to be rather weak, so perhaps it's just a bandwidth issue. This means I may have been unfair about fring. We've just asked the landlord to move the wireless router closer to our side of the house  It was definitely a free call though, and was very easy to set up, thanks to Brack's instructions. I'll persist with sip-agent. At least I can listen to all that's going on at home :P Thanks again all.

After reading this thread, I tried the same i.e. created a new account on internetcalls.com and tried using both sipagent and sipdroid but it keep failing in registration process. I am on TMUK. Is it because VOIP is allowed by my operator or something else?
