Need to access outlook but reg hack is preventing it

Hi,

I am trying to get all my contacts from my Omnia (WinMo 6.5) to my new HTC Desire (Android 2.1). I do not use MS Outlook on my laptop (I prefer Thunderbird) and as such I need to do this from my phone.

I am aware that I can export my contacts from Thunderbird to a gmail account and then import from that gmail account to Android, however I have limited and expensive internet access (I work on a cruise ship and we use a very slow satellite link.) I also have a slight issue with all my contact details being in the gmail ‘cloud’……

My Omnia has Vito FunContacts set as the default contact app, which was achieved using a change to the registry:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCONTACTS\

“My Storage\ProgramFiles\VITO\FunContact\FunContact.exe”

but I’m not sure which program path to change it back to so that a press on the Contacts icon fires up MS Contacts, rather than Vito FunContact. Once I have done this, I will be able to export the contacts as a file and hopefully import that file into my Android device (although I’m not sure how to do that either!!)

I’ve also been looking at using ExportContacts v 0.5 from www.wm-soft.com, which promises to export all the contact details along with contact photos, etc as HTML or XML. However, after installing the cab it fails to run from my Omnia, which I assume has something to do with the registry change above. (the error message says ‘Value can not be null’)

I have the rather excellent BirdieSync installed on my Omnia and laptop, which can sync contacts/calendar/messages from the Omnia to Thunderbird without having to use MS ActiveSync. However there is no Android version of this and none are in development, so this avenue is closed to me.

Any help in my migration pains will be gratefully accepted!!
