Guest akhtar1817 Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Hi, Is it possible to increase the wifi signal on the hero (mcr3.2), on my laptop I can pickup a wifi signal much further away from the router than I can on the hero, obviously the wifi cards are different in size etc but is there anything that can be done to increase the strength on the hero? Regards W

Guest Fleming Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 All I can really say to help is that the antenna is in the chin.
Guest zorm Posted April 27, 2010 Report Posted April 27, 2010 I don't know if this applies to wifi as well, but aiui if your mobile network signal is poor, the radio ROM will automatically boost the signal. I came across this info in relation to poor signal strength leading to decreased battery life. This suggests that maybe you can't do any better than the ROM already manages. However i'm far from certain & only posting as you've not had much of a response to your question.
Guest kendon Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 for the 100 views: by not adding a "?" to your topic you suggest that your thread contains a method to increase the wifi strength, not a question about it. on topic: find out where the antenna is, and make a parabolic reflector around it, pointing to your wifi router. there are several guides on google for that. other than that, there is the obvious: decrease distance to the router, remove obstacles, use an empty channel, etc. there is no method to increase the power of the wifi signal, and even if there was you cannot increase the reception.

Guest kendon Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 fwiw, few days ago is was trying to connect a friends wifi (long story), and therefore checked the available wifi apps and tools. "wifi analyzer" does a remarkable good job at analyzing wifi and finding the best channel, should be worth a try.

WiFi - can not, always the same level. Try to find an external antenna for your router, these things can help (some of them even have amplifiers built-in).
