right ... any of u guys use these?

i want mobile defense but its not available in the uk

since its free lookout is kinda good and we NEED root, then u can install as system app and it will turn gps/3g all on and try and send data when requested. its missing a lock function tho.

dunno if wavesecure can?

any suggestions... i like lookout just NEED root acess to make it not uninstallable

same boat mate, want Mobile Defense but can't get it yet. I found an open source one called Prey which looks good but haven't tried it yet. Bit worried about anything that has the potential to reduce battery life even further! I also found iTag.

I'd be happy if I could work out how to get my contact details on the lock screen! Might have to pay for Wave Secure for a year and hope Mobile Defense gets released to the UK

Wavesecure is your friend. It has uninstall protection, too. Do a testdrive

Seconded for Wavesecure. Not only for the Uninstall protection, but also for the notify on change of sim function. 7 day trial available from market

There's a sim checker app that is not tied to any online service + once we have root, you can use it together with remote wipe.

Of course, you can be as crazy as me and use all of them: wavesecure + sim checker + remote wipe

im using lookout atm .. and with root we can install as a system app... theres a special apk available from them.. however it lacks remote lock but doent reduce batterly life very much as it doesnt broadcast untill it revices a request from the server. and has acuratly pinpointed my phone ... i had a friend take it out with them and then called them after about 2 hours and told them where they were then activated scream... lols... install on sum1s android when there not paying attention then activate scream at an inconveniant time its amusing

cheers, been running WaveSecure trial now for 6 or so hours. Looks good, cant see any evidence of nasty battery drain. Tested all the functions and I'm very impressed. Looks like its going to be $19 for a year and then see what else is around, WaveSecure seem to do promos all the time, I just miss them every time!

Charged? Does your network charge you or Wavesecure?

I prefer Theft Aware (www.theftaware.com) because it's feature rich and completely stand-alone (no need to share your position with a third party).
