Guest carlosp_uk Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 The final Beta of SmartMP3 is released - with LOADS of improvements, and I'd really value your comments and suggestions. What's new? Organise your Music Collection (MP3, WMA, WAV, now also Ringtones) and transfer to your Smartphone. Generate playlists, and automatically convert/resample music to match your preference. Seach by Artist, Title, Frequency, whatever! File Conversion - Want to convert all your MP3s to WMAs? SmartMP3 will do it on-the-fly as it copies. - Want to use an MP3 or a WMA for a ringtone? SmartMP3 will convert it to WAV, 32k mono, or whatever you prefer. - Want to transfer every WMA file you own by Madonna, but convert them to MP3s? Easy! We will give all Beta Testers who email good feedback, a discount on the final release in May... ...until then - go play! It's available from this page! Cheers! Carlos
Guest mavisdavis Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 ;) I`ve been on thissince it was posted and was so looking forward to an application like it. Unfortunatly when you`ve spent 1 hour organising mp3s and ringtones and the time comes to send it all across to your phone  it comes up - ERROR FILEWRITE 13. But it is an excellent Application, one which i will definatly purchase. Keep up the good work
Guest carlosp_uk Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 Mavis, I'm really sorry to hear that, but unfortunately that's the nature of beta software. We're collecting any bug reports and we promise we will FIX THEM! Keep watching the smartmp3 page for updates/revisions. Please send any detailed bug reports to [email protected], that way, we can send you a detailed personal reply. In particular, always mention: - The exact error message - What you were doing just before the crash - Your make/model of Mobile Device - Your Operating System
Guest fraser Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 Thanks for the further updates, I see you've added the media conversion. Nice. I'll have a play around later and let you know what I think!
Guest fraser Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 First thoughts: - File Information dialog needs a cancel button. Presently, the only way to quit is to use "save & close". This is bad for two reasons: a) you force an unwanted update to the file, which would destroy any ALBW information, and  large files cause the app to lock-up while it seeks to the end of the file - Useability. The app just doesn't "flow" well. It's not very apparent how to do things, and it takes a little thought to understand how to use it. - Conversion settings don't seem to be listed correctly on my machine. The WMA settings are listed as "PCM 44.100 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo" for each of the values in the drop down list.
Guest grownEd Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 Thanks for the update!! GREAT PROGRAM first of all! There's a few bugs left IMHO but nothing major. I agree with fraser's points, although the WMA settings seem to work fine on my machine. Better icons would be nice - but i LOVE the ringtone conversion! I will definitely buy the final release.
Guest scooper Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 When i try to install it it says theres sumet missing... i think thezip file is corrupt... can any1 please send me the file or tell me were to get it from..... thanks
Guest mrjuglas Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Just emailed the bug reporting team, the program seems to think all my wmas have a zero duration and as that's how the majority of my music is stored at the moment it's pretty much unuseable for me. Played with the few mp3s I have though and was generally very impressed, I've been transferring files myself with activesync till now and what really annoys me is the random order that it puts them in so I'm really looking forward to the full working version of this program Keep up the good work!
