Guest AlexHaden Posted April 28, 2010 Report Posted April 28, 2010 Hi All, I have had a good search around and either im looking for the wong terminology, or im an idiot. Ill hope its the first! I have just taken delivery of my shiney new HTC desire thats got all that orangy stuff in it, and im looking at doing this rom upgrade malarkey. So take it easy on me, I dont have a clue so i have some simple questions.... 1.Can your totally brick your phone during the upgrade? 2.One i figure out how to get the generic rom on it, when it comes to rooting (what?) do i need to reflash again, or will that work on that generic rom? (i hope i have that correct!) 3.Once i move to a generic rom, how can i get all of my purchased apps back? 4.Not a question, but i feel liberated from my iphone - but the fact that there is only 128mb for apps......i need that a2sd thingy! thats my main reason for changing rom... Thanks Alex
Guest mooves Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Hey Alex, The process is the same for all Desires. My Telstra branded (A8183 - 850Mhz version) Desire is no more.... it's now a generic HTC build. I was anxious about bricking mine but we got through it. It's a nail biting 10 minutes during the upgrade though. 1. If you follow the steps during the upgrade process ie. battery at least 30% full, disable sleep mode on the PC then your chances of bricking it are pretty slim. 2. Check out this thread. http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...r-t-mo-handset/ 3. You will need to download them all through Android Market 4. You're right..... but Paul and others are feverishly working on releasing the Desire from its shackles including a2sd. Hope this helps.
