How to disable optical trackball?

does anyone know how to disable the optical trackball?

Dropping my Desire in a glass of Tia Maria and Coke managed to disable mine. Try it you only need around 150ml :huh:

LOL what? You already managed to break your desire? :s I'm still saving money for it :D xD (I'm only 17 so... :P)

And @ gerartje, why would you want to disable it? :blink: Is it that irritating? :o

It's not totally broken it works fine just 3 buttons dead. Volume down, trackpad and search key. Typical that 2 of the keys needed to root the Desire are two of my broken ones!

Guess i'll have to crack her open and clean her up see if that does the trick.

It can be irritating... If you frequently touch it by accident :-)

But then again, I realized, if I disable it, I can't take any pictures, because that has to be done with the optical trackball.

So, I'm afraid you can't disable it and it wouldn't even be convenient (cf taking pictures)

You can take picture by touching anywhere on the screen while in the camera.

Yeah i've been pressing the screen to take pics seem as my trackpad doesn't work at all!
