Guest AndyCr15 Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Would the GoldCard I created work on someone elses Desire or even a totally different device, or do you have to make a GoldCard specific for each phone? Thanks.

Guest elroy944 Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 i have made with PSAS an goldcard for htc legend, and used it successfully to root my htc desire
Guest kewell79 Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 i have made with PSAS an goldcard for htc legend, and used it successfully to root my htc desire most i have the goldcard in my desire all the time?
Guest afiorillo Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 most i have the goldcard in my desire all the time? No, you won't. You'll only need it for flashing, after that you can copy all root related files upon it and archive it as a "Root Toolbox" to use in the future.
Guest elroy944 Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 you can just use a 1gb or 2gb (i used 2gb) for only flashing. I don't use the goldcard for daily use of storage
Guest Kehaan Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 No, you won't. You'll only need it for flashing, after that you can copy all root related files upon it and archive it as a "Root Toolbox" to use in the future. Hey Which kind of the files would be needed to be copied over to the normal use card from the goldcard? I have just ordered a 2gb Kingston card to be used as goldcard and a 16gb card for normal use with a2sd. Is that possible? From kehaan
Guest waterc00l Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) sure, thats perfect. you don't have to copy any files. If you want to flash sthg: - power down the phone - put in the gold card with the zip files you want to flash - boot in recovery mode - flash - power down - put in your regular card - let's go Your Goldcard is your storage for mods and you need it only to flash. (no warranty, i am a noob too) Edited April 29, 2010 by waterc00l

Guest AndyCr15 Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Another quick question I just thought of, if I want to flash a new ROM, now I'm rooted, do I have to use the GoldCard, or now it's all done I can flash off anything?
Guest waterc00l Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Another quick question I just thought of, if I want to flash a new ROM, now I'm rooted, do I have to use the GoldCard, or now it's all done I can flash off anything? I think you need the goldcard everytime you flash a new rom. Flashing won't work with the "normal" sd.
Guest lanxton Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 You can use the same goldcard for multiple devices Hmm.. if that is true then I wonder why we need to get the "cid" from our specific device. Why don't the instructions just say use one number?
Guest afiorillo Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Hey Which kind of the files would be needed to be copied over to the normal use card from the goldcard? I have just ordered a 2gb Kingston card to be used as goldcard and a 16gb card for normal use with a2sd. Is that possible? From kehaan Yes, it sounds great. You'll need barely 500MB of free space on your goldcard, being lazy enough to put all root-related files over it at once.
Guest afiorillo Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Hmm.. if that is true then I wonder why we need to get the "cid" from our specific device. Why don't the instructions just say use one number? That "CID" is not the device CID, but the MicroSD card one. Take it as the old school "volume serial number". The goldcard prevents the update (flash) process to check for the device CID, making it possible to flash custom ROMs or ROMs coming from other places in the world.

That makes much more sense now. I thought it was the CID from the phone. Thanks for explaining.

Read this: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1256308 if we change the serial of a card, we can have a universal gold card, right? Edited May 2, 2010 by mrshark
Guest mrshark Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 so, nobody is interested to test if this is simpler for other users...
Guest lanxton Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 (edited) so, nobody is interested to test if this is simpler for other users... I wish I could read that thread, but looks like it was removed. Too bad too because now it seems like you have to pay for a goldcard. The free goldcard generator is gone. Help! Edited May 2, 2010 by lanxton

Guest Minishlink Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 (edited) Please fix the link, it contains '...'. :P No, it's just the text, the link is correct. http://android.modaco.com/index.php?showto...t&p=1256308 But anyway, the topic has been deleted. Edited May 2, 2010 by Minishlink
Guest mrshark Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 (edited) i don't know what's happening here... links change without reason... i've already corrected that post 3 times in 2 days, test if link is ok, and after few hours, it's broken again... so, thread is this: http://android.modaco.com/content/general-...ing-a-goldcard/ look for my post, n. 24... let's see if so it works... in any case, contains this: as a goldcard is different from sd card to sd card, there's something bound to what makes an sd different from an other... so, if size doesn't matter, as sayd by paul, then the only other thing that remains is vol-id, that is created at format time, i think... if it is not bound to something on the specific phone, vol-id can be changed with software like this: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Programming/O.../VolumeID.shtml is this a way to transform a goldcard... a platinum one? :-) Edited May 2, 2010 by mrshark
Guest starchildx Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 how do i know if i have a carrier rom or a generic rom ? i bought my desire at the o2 store in germany. the bootscreen is from htc and there is no o2 program on the phone.
Guest Pyr0x64 Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 (edited) goldcard generator is back: http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard Edited May 2, 2010 by Pyr0x64
Guest lanxton Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 is this a way to transform a goldcard... a platinum one? :-) I think that the "CID" of the sdcard is at a much lower level than the Volume ID. Although, I think it could still be done with enough effort, the nice fellows at PSAS have turned the magic card generator back on. Thanks guys.
