Guest Casper-vH Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Hi everyone. Im having serious trouble finding capable android navigation software. Ive tried Copilot and Navigon. I personally wish someone would build the combination of the both. CoPilot has all the options I need. But it drives me crazy. You dont see the notification bar anymore. And it seems to be just standalone software that has nothing to do with android. For example using there own keyboard layout. So annoying to use. Navigon on the other hand has no option for routing. As I work for an post delivery company that is very annoying. There is no option to order routes or to save them at all. Does anybody know a better alternative?
Guest preetkk Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 I use mobile maps 9 (in the United Kingdom) but you do not see the notifications bar and you have to use mobile maps keyboard which has its bad points.... but you can have a ordered route set I just checked for you right now....

Try Sygic, the best navi-software, IMHO.
Guest MarcusHenrique Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Try iGo! You can see notifications bar, it has alternate routes and you can even make your car looks like a flying carpet hehe Only thing is that it has it's own keyboard, but is pretty usable.
Guest gemx Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Have you tried Sygic Mobile Maps 10 ? For me, it's the best GPS solution for Android. It has all the "fancy" stuff you would expect from a fully fledged GPS solution. http://www.sygic.com/index.php/en/mobile-maps-overview.html BTW: I am certainly not with Sygic. Just my own personal experience
Guest Totyasrác Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Another vote for Sygic (MobileMaps). Cheap, working good.
Guest preetkk Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 but can you see the notifications bar with mobile maps 10 because I am using mobile maps 9 and i cannot... read the OP's requirements
Guest BigBearMDC Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) I use Wisepilot from T-Mobile Austria. (it's available in other countries too, I think). It has pretty much features like disabling standby, auto-updating routes, avoid highways, 3D view, night-mode, saving routes etc. But it's loading the maps from the internet, and you have to pay monthly fees (or dayly). You can test it 5 days for free, and the app itself is free too. Greetings, BigBear Edited April 29, 2010 by BigBearMDC
Guest Jan M Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 +1 for iGO [url=http://www.google.com/search?q=iGO+My+way™+2009+for+Android™]http://www.google.com/search?q=iGO+My+way

Just my own personal experience  How about map updates? Here in Bergen roads changes OFTEN. I actually bought Navigon for my N1. But I couldn't activate it on my Desire because of different ID's. I tried buying NDrive which seems really nice and fast. I used that on my old iPhone 3GS, but the creditcard purchase thing in the NDrive app doesn't work well, or at all in Norway.
Guest peanut_rvm Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 I'm going with copilot live. works pretty great. I also tried Navigon, but it couldn't get a lock on a satelite....

In the latest you can certainly see the notification bar and it now uses the Android keyboard.
Guest hadley Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 I have just found Waze, which appears to be free and open source. It leaves the notification area on the screen, and it uses the Android keyboard...
Guest Casper-vH Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Apparently I was using an old version of CoPilot. I tried searching iGo. But I cant find a way to buy the program. Maybe Im just stupid and cant find the button on the homepage. Also cant find it in the Market. I think it is a real shame you cant try any of the programs (well except navigon). You have to buy them to know if it is what you want or not...
Guest alpha232 Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 I have just found Waze, which appears to be free and open source. It leaves the notification area on the screen, and it uses the Android keyboard... I tried that, but it's maps are made by people driving, so if no-one has driven a road you're on before you'll be the one mapping it which isn't helpful if you're trying to get somewhere. Couldn't get co-pilot to work properly (always force quit on loading), got my money back and got Sygic which is working pretty well.
Guest darkly Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 I wouldn't touch Co-Pilot with a barge pole. I used them with Windows Mobile first off and it was okay then, but far from perfect. I then bought a D.V.D. for use with my Pulse and have had nothing but trouble from them. Their support is non-existent and the first time I tried installing it on my Pulse it was a week and several hours of tinkering till I could get it to work. Not sure what else to use, but won't be going back to Co-Pilot ever. Hi everyone. Im having serious trouble finding capable android navigation software. Ive tried Copilot and Navigon. Guest peelie Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 have tried Igo and Sygic Mobile Maps 10; use Sygic Mobile Maps 10 - it has nearly half footprint of Igo and is faster :P (but make sure to turn off all options to call and get online)
