Guest AndyCr15 Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Now, I don't mean they will take your money and you wont get your code, what upsets me is, on the front of their site it says - All phones cost €15 (20% off - normal price €18) to unlock. Nothing else to say, plain and clear, they will unlock any HTC phone for €15. FALSE If you have a Desire, you pay your €15, you try what it says and it wont work. You then get an e-mail saying 'You need to use the new database, this costs €20 more' I have then declined this, as I have the option, I was only going to unlock it to increase the phone value, rather than I need it. I feel sorry for those really in need, you don't really have a choice at this point. Now, it wouldn't be so bad if when I declined and asked for a refund, it was just done... but it wasn't. 24 hours later and they still have my €15. Does no-one else see that the way they are operating is wrong? Who can I report this to? If a shop on the High Street advertised a TV for £449 and when I got to the till they took my £449 and then told me I had to pay another £600, I say I no-longer want the TV they then wont refund me, I could go to trading standards. Who deals with online scams? Personally, I'm disappointed MoDaCo are linked to them, I went to them because their link is up their on every forum, I assumed they were a reputable site.
Guest AndyCr15 Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 Wow, over 100 views by no-one else thinks this is wrong? They still haven't given my refund, so I see this as a fraudulent transaction. Strangely Paypal have said it's to do with quality and I don't get my money back!?!? Obviously, I'm contesting this, it's not quality, I haven't received anything!
Guest Emmepi Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 I posted testimonial on their forum... Worked for me at 200 percent ! Unlocked HD2 in less than 4 hours... HD2 was brand new in early December, i wasn't confident, but i received code very quickly...
Guest Sashimi Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 (edited) I remember ages ago trying to find an online service to unlock a Sony Ericcson W850i, and I got scammed by the same type of website which, if you read carefully, usually says you can buy from them the info to unlock your phone. Once you've made the purchase, they send you an email with random mess. You'll try all the stuff they tell you to do, it obviously won't work, and the last line of there precious advice will sums up to "too bad, the info we currently have/provide doesn't seem to work with your phone version, you're f**ked mate". The last part of that sentence being thus undoubtedly true  Edited May 2, 2010 by Sashimi
Guest AndyCr15 Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 I see HTCunlock.com will unlock a Desire for £20. Now I understand why HTCCode don't want to mention their real price on the front page, people will go to htcunlock.com instead... http://htcunlock.com/HTC/desire/unlock_code/ I'm sure it works fine for most, a friend used them no problems, it just seems wrong they advertise one price and then ask for more money. Rather dishonest. And I've just been on the phone with Paypal, they wont help as it's not a physical item!?!?
Guest Paul Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 I will contact HTCCode to find out what is going on here! P
Guest AndyCr15 Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 Thanks a lot Paul, greatly appreciated. There seem to be a few on XDA and their own forums who are also rather annoyed.
Guest scopes64 Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 HTCCode unlocked my HTC Desire on T-Mobile for $25. The whole process took 30 mins. Granted the claims on the front page are not correct but they refunded my first 15 Euro when it was realised my code wasn't in the first Database. Their service is excellent if maybe there website a little misleading.
Guest AndyCr15 Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Their service is excellent if maybe there website a little misleading. Maybe it's just the service to those that don't mind being conned is good. They said I would get my full refund 4 days ago, but nothing and they wont reply to my e-mails....
Guest sonic001 Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 I was charged with 15 Euros for HTC Desire and got unknown code in their software so I payed $25 more to get unlock code. worked fine and got my 15 Euro back. Overall they have good service but THEY SHOULD mention on their front page that it would cost 20 Euro not 15 for HTC Desire.
Guest AndyCr15 Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 I find it interesting they appear to be charging people $25 now, instead of €35? That's half the price almost?
Guest shingers5 Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 scam site .............. NO but hate giving refunds..... HELL YEAH! ordered an unlock code for my HTC Hero locked to H3G and paid 15 euros. they code was not found on the normal database as HTC have started putting their unlock codes on a newer one. this service does cost more and it is mentioned clearly on other sites. if phone was bought or manufactured after Jan 2010 chances are the unlock code will be on new database. i use unlockdata.co.uk and they advise you clearly of this. problem is after you get email fromn HTCCODE that your unlock code was not found, thats only time you get offer or even know of other service. i was offered this service which i refused and was clearly tyold that if i refuse the new service i would get a refund. well i didnt get it. after 3 days of emails i opened a dispute via paypal. still no response from guys at HTCCODE even within paypal dispute. i then had to escalate to a claim within paypal and today got email stating that they have decided in my favor and secured my 15 euros. damn right unacceptable. Do not use HTCCODE people as they dont reply to your emails and will not give you a refund unless you go through all what i went through. if your device was bought or manufactured after Jan 2010 you need to order of newer service which costs more. this is not conjecture but fact!

They said I would get my full refund 4 days ago, but nothing and they wont reply to my e-mails.... open dispute via paypal and if no response can escalate to a claim. if no used paypal to pay then i can't suggest anything barr telling your bank it was unlawful transaction. funny how quick funds are taken out and how slow they are to give back
Guest speedking34 Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 I made the mistake of paying the 15€ for an unlock code for my Desire. After reading all of your messages i can see that i will not get my code. I opened a dispute on paypal to get my money back, that's outa make him react. I since got my code under 5 minutes via http://htcsimunlock.com I recomend you use them! The guy from HTCCODE seems to be gone, he is not answering on the forums, nore is he answering emails.

I recommend anyone who got "scammed" by them to do the same, as if the seller has multiple dipsutes against him, it will be easier for use to win the claim.
Guest sruon Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Kinda weird... I did read all the bad messages about HTCCODE after ordering with them (felt bad for a while), received code by mail the day after...

I just badgered the guy repeatedly on the live-chat thing. It took two days of opening several chat windows and just bombarding him with (polite) requests for my money back on the basis that things were not as advertised on the site's front page (which I believe may have been corrected now).

When was that though? Cause at the minute, it seems as though no one is actually on the other end, like the owner left. Nobody answers on their forums, the live chat is offline, they dont reply to emails or even paypal dipsutes.
Guest deano777 Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 requested an unlock code from HTCcode this morning still nothing :D after reading through this thread used http://www.htcsimunlock.com/ 6minutes later I have my unlock code  8 minutes later paypal disput raised with HTCcode.
Guest d123 Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 Also in the club, saw the modoco endorsement for htccode.com and paid for a code from them. Never got the code and ended up opening a Paypal dispute before I got my refund. I don't think htccode.com is a business in the real sense of the word, I think the "company" is just a guy called Sudarshan, and he lives somewhere in India, which means the "on-line" support operates some strange hours for Euro/US users. I'd never recommend them, there are many better unlockers out there. I ended up getting the code from someone on EBay, £11 delivered in 2 hours.
Guest antihero_ Posted May 21, 2010 Report Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) Where/how the frack do they get the DBs? Edited May 21, 2010 by antihero_
Guest speedking34 Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Just to update anyone who's interested, I have won my dispute on paypal and got my money back. I'd like to say that the only reason I went for them the first time was because they seemed to be endorsed by the modaco community. Now I know better that to blindy trust a website. Not that I am saying its modaco's fault, Im just saying, look into whatever you purchase before spending the moneyz.
