I'll try to find a way to install it, then I'll let you know. Stay tuned.
Guest getty60 Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 let me know, but the way i understand it, with no /system access, there is no way that openvpn installer is going to be able to write the binaries on the phone!! So I believe that until there is that limit...we won't have the OPENVPN! Am I right? I'll root my Desire tonight, after that the first thing I want on my device is just Opnevpn. It's really the killer app that i've been waiting for. The OpenVPN installer app states quite plainly that it will attempt to write to locations under /system ; thus, if those locations are not writeable, the installer will likely fail. That said, it might also be the case that if one were to install OpenVPN in another location manually, then one might be able to install and use OpenVPN Settings (formerly TunnelDroid) to manage it as normal. That's just a hypothesis, of course.
Guest getty60 Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 The thing is that the proogram itself gives you only a few choices, and all of them are in /system. It will thake a whole new OPENVPN installer to do it!! I'm starting to believe that the only solution for now will be the CM 5.0.6 porting that as far as I know as already everything in it! quote name='phrawzty' date='Apr 30 2010, 16:23' post='1257153'] I, too, am very much looking forward to getting an OpenVPN client working on my Desire.
