Guest m1ilo Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Since its possible to root or flash a generic rom on hboot 0.75 devices, i would like to start a topic on the hboot 0.80 issues to share new informations about rooting devices from o2 germany or softbank asia, which were delivered with a newer firmware and new hboot 0.80. so, if you got new informations on this topic, please post them here . i have a o2 germany htc desire with a branding by o2, but the branded software is annoying me, because friendstream and the photos in the contacts crashes all the time i try to use them... since that i'm more interested in getting a generic software on my o2 device and not a rooted rom.
Guest lanxton Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Even though 0.80 firmware can not be "rooted" at this time, the phone can still be flashed with the generic ROM right? Does the generic ROM try to downgrade the firmware?
Guest ccitt Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 I find a post in XDA, Paul said he would release 0.80 root soon. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...mp;postcount=11

Does the generic ROM try to downgrade the firmware? no, generic rom doesnt work, too. because the hboot 0.80 devices have a newer firmware and a downgrade doesnt work. i tried the generic rom from a china website and the one paul posted here, but both dont work because of "140 bootloader version error". for debranding we need a firmware, which supports the 0.80 bootloader.

He doesn't mention "soon" this doesn't means that it won't. but it's not said like that... If you read the root guide Paul tells that this this won't be as easy as it was for the other devices.

The HTC factory must have a new vanilla ROM containing 0.80 firmware. Maybe a new generic ROM will appear like it did with the 0.75 version. The RUU should work only if both versions of the firmware are the same or greater.

Guest lanxton Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Paul's done it  When a phone with HBOOT 0.80 is rooted, does that mean we can finally flash it back down to HBOOT 0.75?
Guest Rdy2Go Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 When a phone with HBOOT 0.80 is rooted, does that mean we can finally flash it back down to HBOOT 0.75? I wonder if rooted 0.80 device will be able to flash older ROMs? Can't wait to try it myself!
