Guest Frankish Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Is it possible? Any other keys that can be used. Both of them are broken on mine.
Guest afiorillo Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Sounds like trying to root a Desire without a Desire. No, I think that you won't be able to root it until it'll fixed.

OK, but without the volume down key how can he move around the bootloader menus? Frankish didn't say if the optical pad can actually be pressed anymore: if not, how can he act into the Recovery Console? Edited April 30, 2010 by afiorillo

But I'm also quite sure that one of them is a link to "clear storage", so don't try them if you don't want to lose your data. Also, typing commands for which you don't know what they do is a good way to brick your phone, so don't blame me if it happens. Edited April 30, 2010 by pipomolo42
Guest Frankish Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Yeah i'll not try it yet then! My trackpad doesn't detect movement or allow a press...totally dead. I'm going to crack it open at some point though and try to fix it as everything works great other than three buttons so i'm guessing there is just some residue. Will also be a good chance to remove the dust that somehow manges to get UNDER the screen!
Guest PaulW21781 Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Can't you do a warranty claim? Or is the reason they are broke a bit more sinister lol
Guest Frankish Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Dropped in a glass of Tia Maria and Coke. Can't tell whatsoever apart from the buttons being dead. Only thing is i have de branded it so pretty sure that effectively ruins the chance of warranty claiming. Plus i'd have to go without it for AGES i know what T-Mob are like. I'd rather fix it myself...if i mess up it's insurance job.
