Guest Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Hi All Just wondering what are the main items using battery on your desire? I notice my 3G connection constantly switching from 3G to H (usually when downloading something) and I'm wondering if that's having a negative impact on my phone's battery. Cell Standby 30% Phone Idle 28% Android system 16% Display 5% Appreciate it if anyone could compare the above with theirs? Many thanks gR
Guest magicpie1980 Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Its usually apps syncing constantly that lessens battery life;) I leave my phone on just apn when i go to sleep at 10pm when i wake at 8am i have 93 percent left, so if left idle, the apn does not affect the phone in one bit, gps and wifi eat battery, as does wifi file transfer... B
Guest crisdo98 Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Yep, 3G and constant syncing will kill your phone battery. I'm using a program called 'JuiceDefender'. It enables APN for 1m every 15m. When the battery is below 15% is disables APN. The premium version offers the same functions but using WiFi as well.

Guest crisdo98 Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 seems to work fine for me. I've only been using it for the day and the app has only been around for the last month. When you are using 3G ie. downloading stuff then the APN constantly stays on. It's only when you're phone is idle (which is would be for ~18 hours a day) that it monitors the APN and switches it on and off every 15 mins (or any range between 1min and 2 hours). Check it out, you've nothing to lose.
Guest tiger33 Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 Thanks cris, I'll give that app a go. Im also using juice dfender but to be honest i've not noticed a difference - even though the widget says x2.1 improvement
Guest Bol2riz Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 (edited) Hi, There is a post about battery life (http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com/307682/best-way-to-save-battery-life/) where I've describe my config (some other may be good too...) And without disabling 3g my desire can stay awake about 1,5 to 2 days in day to day usage (approx. per day phone 30min- web 2h -music 2-3h -talk 15min and sms 15min) and flight mode from 1am to 6.30 am It's not hardcore usage and I think it depends also of 3g or 2g coverage. Guest magicpie1980 Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Thw worst battery user i think is live wallpapers as well, its noted in the use of android system, so if you have a high android system useage, look there first;)
Guest Jamsi Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Hi there. When I go *#*#4636#*#*....and look at my battery usage statistics, it shows in the net usage that the Calendar app is using a whole lotta network (and battery i presume). Anybody know why that is??
