Adfree problems

As title says, it makes my phone restart randomly, doesnt even work. When i press Download and Install Hosts with any settings checked(for the IPs) it tells me connecting then "Failed to replace your hosts file. Error message:"

Any ideas please? :S

Yes, phone is rooted :/

edit: actually it restarts it only but every time i download and install hosts

umm.... the desire has been rooted, yes, but the root access doenst include write accsess to /system partition (yet) wich adfree needs

howcome marketenabler & the likes work tho? Im really new on android so Im still learning what does/means what, soooo ... what I did below wasnt to write on the /system?

a workaround for this, found here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...amp;postcount=6 ('rm hosts' step failed tho)

and it worked(page not found on app adds), but it crashed the phone 2min later, only to find it with adds when it booted back up :S

you need access to the /etc dir on the phone which you don't have at present, why do you need it anyway, yeah its good to have don't get me wrong but its not the end of the world if you don't I mean having it anyway is supporting the developers and keeping apps free, so in a way its a good thing.

Yea, the 2mins I had it, it didnt impress me that much tbh, was more curious if something is wrong with MY phone i guess.

noob question and Im done, all those adds connect to the internet, or are locally stored?

Excellent work....although I can't see it attatched to that.... post....
