Rooting. What am I doing wrong?

I spend 8h yestersay trying to root my desire with no sucess.

Im using windows method and got stuck on step when I have to execute recovery-windows.bat file.

In prompt command window I get message:

error: devices not found

phone stays at 'red triangle' screen and cannot go any further.

When trying LiveCD method I got an error after command:

sudo mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

I did try to use two different golden card. Im sure that at least one of them is fine as I used it to debrand desire to generic rom.

Now some info about my device etc:

HBOOT-075.0000

MICROP-031d

TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101

RADIO-4.05.00.11

Windows 7 32b

latest HTC drivers installed

I did follow all instructions 100 times but still got stuck at the same stage.

What am I doing wrong???

Make sure your Desire is the only device connected to your pc and not on a hub etc. I had problems too. I assume it seemed to flash the testrru ok and you switched off at the config wiz?

I did have a go with desire pluged to pc only and rooted it.

Finally GOT ROOT!!!!
