Guest Pearl Jam Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Hello all i am using my I900 and i am extremely happy with it  but today i heard about common hardware problem with samsung omnia i900 this problem makes the screen dead after while i was wondering if this is true ?? is it real ? the screen Die and no respond after while ? and this is common " manufacture " problem in the hardware itself ? and is it confirmed ?? please help me  this is really urgent i want to decide about my phone It just seams that as time goes on the screen will eventually start to fail (dead spots/trouble alligning it) you can replace the digitizer (touch screen) but I have read about some people having trouble with this. This phone was awesome a couple years ago...if your debating on getting another one...then get it :P Most of the new themes and such are for (W) VGA anyway
Guest MimomaN Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Thanx a lot for reply bro , guys , so what i heard is " Almost " right ? :P any confirmation about that ??!

Guest MimomaN Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 thanx again bro i guess this huge number of replays related to the old and the new i900 version " the improved screen " so every one want to change the screen the new one please any one tell me if i am wrong , and any confirmation about that ??! please tell me before any thing bad could happen
Guest AhmadMR Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 (edited) I can confirm that: after a while the screen will suffer from misalignment and hard recognition of finger touches, sometimes this happens to the whole screen and sometimes to few spots only. Mine for example suffers from misalignment at the whole right side of the screen (I have the phone for 2 years now), I tried some registry tweaks which helped a little... But now I'm planning for a digitizer replacement. As I saw, if you plays gentle touches with the screen, it will last with you for a long time, but eventually it will be almost dead. Guest Sb. Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 To be honest I am supprised how long these screes have lasted. When it was time to move to a touch screen phone I thought that theres no chance these things will last but it has and still in mint condition with close to 100 flashes and hours upon hours of fiddling around and setting it up and day to day use you cant really say that theyre no good. Mines about 1 1/2 years and I feel confident it will last the 2 years(I hope)! but then again you never know! Not sure about the time they take to die. Friend had issues with his after a couple of weeks and had it replaced.
Guest gman34 Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 i just sent mine in to service center. Phone was used for under 6 months, and I took good care of it, actually thats a lie, there were no scratches on the screen but sometimes i get ticked off when it jams so i slap the screen. I am pretty positive thats what caused it. hahahaha. no worries tho it was covered under warranty and if it wasn't its only 15 bucks for a new digitizer.

Obviously the phone will loose value because a) it's second hand, :D it has been tampered with and c) it's old. You'd be lucky to even sell the phone for $100. It is a p.o.s in my opinion, only got it to replace my beloved HTC. I'm grateful to all the chefs but it seriously is sluggish, I'm embarrassed to take it clubbing with me. Can't even type on it properly. Instead of wasting money of fixing the phone, get an Android device or wait and see what Microsoft brings in September/October with their Windows 7 Phone series. Actually, use an old phone if you can and wait till September/October, great handsets are going to be released then.

Guest aceofrazgriz Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 i've had almost a 2 year run with this beast, screen is still pretty darn solid. It is beat to hell though and that has affected its performance a tad. Just ordered new screen (and got Incredible.) I'll have to check out how the new digitizer performs before passing it off to a buddy.
Guest MimomaN Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 @ all : thanx guys for reply the strange thing , i talked today to the official reseller of samsung on my country i asked him about that matter you know what he told me , he told me that there's no any common hardware problem makes the screen Die after while !! :D i asked him a lot " are you sure ? " .. he told me " yes i'm " and they had official reseller of samsung and the biggest maintenance center on my country but must people in my country never mind about using custom roms so , do you think this problem appears only with people using custom roms only ?? i've had almost a 2 year run with this beast, screen is still pretty darn solid. It is beat to hell though and that has affected its performance a tad. Just ordered new screen (and got Incredible.) I'll have to check out how the new digitizer performs before passing it off to a buddy. i am sorry if i asked for more explain :P you mean you have it for 2 years and and the screen still working perfectly ?? if so , why you ordered a new one ? i am sorry i'm a little confused
Guest aceofrazgriz Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 yes, i haven't had any problems with my screen over the life of the phone. i have ordered a new digitizer (top layer of screen which picks up the touch input) simply because it has become beaten up and scratched. Wouldn't bother with this if i wasn't giving the phone to my friend.
