Guest tomesy Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 Just a quick question - if you enter a bithday date for a contact, does it appear as an appointment, or an all day event on the home screen. Basically I want these birthday dates to appear on the home screen, but although I've been experimenting with a variety of skins, etc - they dont seem to display. Having said that, I vaguely remember something appearing with one of the orginal (does anyone still use these?) Orange homescreens.
Guest madu Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 They appear as 'All Day Appointment' and show as white line (free) in 'week' calendar view.. There must be an 'all day appointment' plugin on your homescreen to display them. This plugin is only visible when there is 'all day event'. Try other homescreens. Full may have it.
Guest matth Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 madukrainian - I always assumed that adding a birthday when creating a contact never worked. I bought my phone in late November and have never been able to get a birthday to appear in the calendar. All the birthdays i've got have been entered manually. Ha, that's pi$$ed me off a bit that. Must be a bug on my phone. Oh well. Odd thing is, that i hard to hard reset the phone (post uk update) so if this bug was in the initial batch of phone software i would have thought it would have been ironed out, obviously not though. no known fix for this kind of thing is there ? cheers matt h
Guest spacemonkey Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 I entered birthdays and anniversarys on contacts in outlook on the PC and they seemed to sync onto the phone and appear in the calendar. Is your phone set up to sync to outlook? Just wondering cos maybe it's outlook on the pc generating these all day events and a phone on it's own doesn't do them. Just an idea.
Guest Richie M Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 Yeah the phone wont let you edit them
Guest v1nn1e Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 Spacemaonkey is right! The phone doesn't look into the contacts and make birthday appointments, outlook does this. When a contact is made on the phone with a birthday entered, the next time you sync with outlook, outlook will take that contact and save it to the pc and make an all day event birthday attachment to the contact on the pc. As it has now made an appointment which is not on the spv, the spv syncs with the pc to get the newly made all day birthday appointments.
Guest elphantasmo Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 short of going through all my contacts birthdays in the outlook calendar and giving all either a time or setting them to 'busy' is there any way to get them to appear in the month view on the phone's calendar?
