Guest Dr. dre Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 hi people, finally today said goodbye to hero & welcomed milestone so far so good lets see if i miss hero How much did you got it for ? Just because you got tired of waiting for Hero 2.1 update, So you upgraded to milestone(not exactly upgraded).
Guest megaoptimus Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 How much did you got it for ? Just because you got tired of waiting for Hero 2.1 update, So you upgraded to milestone(not exactly upgraded). The only android phone I'm considering an upgrade for is the EVO but I don't think I can talk myself into buying into a CDMA contract. The milestone isn't all that impressive nor are the features of 2.1 to warrant such a mild hardware upgrade.

Just because you got tired of waiting for Hero 2.1 update, So you upgraded to milestone(not exactly upgraded). i got it for 27 k in india. i am particularly bored of full touch screen & wanted qwerty so gone for milestone. & its pretty slick. i am liking it so far.

Guest dr_ysp Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 So hows the Rooting process going so far ? found out one method but not sure that is for milestone only. as u must be knowing it is not yet been released in uk & US & most of the developers from there only, i am a surgeon neub in android world
Guest Dr. dre Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 as u must be knowing it is not yet been released in uk & US & most of the developers from there only It's been released in US with 'Verizon' named Motorola Droid
Guest dr_ysp Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 It's been released in US with 'Verizon' named Motorola Droid thats the point, its cdma & milestone is GSM just like sprint hero & European Hero
Guest dr_ysp Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 hi people i am feeling quite good about selling my hero now!! just see this link sprint announcing push back of hero update
Guest snpg Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 I only got my Hero 2 weeks ago from Ebay. Using Villian 5.5 2.1 Rom on it and it's fantastic. Can't believe I waited this long to get a Hero. The whole package and experience is lovely. I love Sense UI. I have had so many phones over the years (I tend to get bored with them very quickly). Almost bought a Nexus One but I just couldn't justify spending £400 on one, so got the Hero because of the vibrant online community. Definately a good move. :P I think I'd only change the phone if the HTC Evo came to the UK. Although the Dell Mini 5 looks interesting...

Yeah, I picked it up for £200, sim-free version in great condition. I like the Villian ROM as it has everything that is in the current versions of SenseUI (and gets updated regularly).
Guest dr_ysp Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 So hows the Rooting process going so far ? done little modding!! got root!! now looking for busybox!!
Guest dipje Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 The milestone isn't all that impressive nor are the features of 2.1 to warrant such a mild hardware upgrade. Mild hardware upgrade?!?!? Flash storage is 3x as fast, cpu is almost twice as fast. And it has a decent GPU just like the iPhone that is actually used by games on 2.x. The screen is larger, and 800x480 (or a few pixels more or less) and it has AMOLED. The cpu is a bit (but only a bit) behind the Snapdragon-1ghz (ti-omap 3430 is way more efficient-per-mhz), but the gpu is better. Flash access is faster so the OS feels snappier actually. The milestone is up 2 par on the hardware spec, in the same league as the N1 and Desire... and you call that a 'mild hardware upgrade' ??? ** confused **

And Yes! as you said lastly 'it's up 2 par', it's not up 2 par, N1 and desire is twice as fast Milestone. Double the RAM and Double the processor. You might wanna upgrade your knowledge. It's Just a mild upgrade except for the GPU

Which is better- Pentium IV on 3.2Ghz or Core 2 Duo on 3.2GHz? Or maybe they operate similar , because are on the same clock speed from your point of view? There are many other things making one CPU better that another- Cache, FPU, operations per second, architecture and much more! So don't rush with the critic..
Guest EbiEre Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 I don't think the Milestone is (much) better than the Hero. A Friend has the Milestone and it is much more laggy in changing screen and scrolling compared to my Hero with Modaco 3.2. I think the Problem is the Bootloader, which is not hacked yet, hope that is still right :) So if i play with both the Milestone is a bit faster in open Apps, but for me its not worse the money. Have fun with your Milestone, but for me, it is not the best choice. P.S.: I don't know why so much people change from the Hero to another Device, i think the Hero is one of the best devices because of one ( for me very important) point: The Community and the ability to root and flash new Roms. So it is possible to mod the Roms and get a better experience than on other, faster devices. The legend has the same lags when switching and scrolling like the Milestone ;)

It's near actually - Cortex has more cache and can manage more operations per MHz. Let's put aside the fact that GPU of Milestone is way better than this included in Nexus and Desire. I've never seen more smooth gameplay, maybe on Iphone only P.S.: I don't know why so much people change from the Hero to another Device, i think the Hero is one of the best devices because of one ( for me very important) point: The Community and the ability to root and flash new Roms. The legend has the same lags when switching and scrolling like the Milestone :) Because Hero is outdated, because there is completely "WTF" said to the users from HTC, because the phone reached its limits, because it has slow CPU, GPU and low screen resolution, because it hasn't proximity sensor and flashlight, because it hasn't FM radio, because 50% and more from the users get their phone with dead pixels on the screen and like me when I had Hero- have to live with that (425EUR for screen with 6-10 dead pixels??? c'mon!) . I can keep this way hours more but do think you can figure it out what I mean. Edited May 14, 2010 by miragebg

Just wanted to say that a faster cpu / gpu does not mean that everything is better. I'm fine with my Hero and compared to the milestone or Legend i don't know what should be much better at this devices. Ok, if you need the hardware keyboard the Milestone has a big plus ;) For me the Hero is all i need, but everyone does need different things. Just wanted to tell that not everything is bad :)
