Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 They "look" pathetic lol !!! Who does that worm think he is with those shades on lol !!!
Guest Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 Dude, you're calling a worm's self-esteem into question. Dude.
Guest midnight Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 hehe, maybe they should have checked modaco first and they'll find better versions of both those games and for free. actually it annoys me the crap that people will make and then charge for it, i dont mind if its a professional game, or usefull utility, but when theres already better versions, and free ones at that it just preys on those who are gullible enough to buy em.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 What about Bob is a different game though  But I could not get the demo of worm to download. I'd like to review the game before slating it ;)
Guest Lojt Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 there are more http://www.pdautilities.com/smartphone.phtml
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Tried the pacman clone and What about Bob, the demos are pathetic you get to play the game for about 10 seconds  so you do not get a feel for how the games really play. Nice try but I could not wait to get these off my phone
Guest midnight Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 the freebie games cominng from modaco people are better than 99% of the commercial stuff thats currently doing the rounds. the only commercial companies i can see doing decent stuff is hexacto and AIM.
Guest Gorskar Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 The Digital Concerpts games (MC Stunt Racer, Bust em, etc) are pretty good also! But from what I've seen of those PDA utilities games, I have beter things to spend my money on.
Guest Pinnacle Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Not to rain on everyone's parade, here, but I actually purchased and really enjoy the Pacman-style game, Pockman. It's not exactly like Pacman...it's got some nice unique gameplay. Plus, unlike SPVMan, it's quite fast. After playing the Pocket PC versions of Pacman and Ms. Pacman, SPVMan is just too slow to get used to. Plus, $6.95 isn't that bad of a price. I'm just saying that calling these games "garbage" is a bit harsh after playing at least one of them.
Guest midnight Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 spvman runs at the same speed as the arcade  or at least it does on my phone. I know these games may play well, i just think they 'look' rather sad. As a graphic artist these games could have been waaaaaay more impressive graphically, and whats the biggest attraction to buying a game without playing it????? 99% of the time its cos the screenshots look good. I know that gameplay is more important, but graphics and sound are important aswell (as i mentioned to someone the other day, unreal2 would not be unreal2 with quake 1's graphics even if the gameplay was identical)
Guest Gorskar Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 Yes, I did think that out of the games they were offering the Pockman one might be worth a try. (Although none of the others really tickled my fancy) SPVman however is a really top notch game, but I apprieciate that this game is far from identical in gameplay.
Guest ndavey1 Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 I bought pockman and i love it. I'm always playing it when I've got a spare minute. The sound effects are great when you eat the ghosts. I think its worth getting. I also love spvman by the way. The more games I've got on my phone, the better!! Spv is the best! Nathan.
Guest muff Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 SPVman however is a really top notch game, but I apprieciate that this game is far from identical in gameplay. thanks for the kudos, but please clarify the 'far from identical in gameplay' part???? do you mean the ghost patterns? game runs very close to arcade game speed - especially on later levels
Guest Gorskar Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I meant far from identical to Pockman, not to the arcade original, which I think it matches very closely.
Guest muff Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I meant far from identical to Pockman, not to the arcade original, which I think it matches very closely. sorry m8, got home late last night after a long days travelling on late running trains - never a good time to start reading forums - your brain perceives comments in completely different ways thanks again muff
Guest unclelimey Posted July 28, 2003 Report Posted July 28, 2003 i agree that most of these games are a bit naff... but crystal cracker is basically a clone of dr mario, and dr mario is looked upon as a classic... crystal cracker is basically dr mario but upside down.... i find it quite addictive and it is digitally signed
Guest siu99spj Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 unreal2 would not be unreal2 with quake 1's graphics even if the gameplay was identical Thats semi-true. The main reason Q1 sold was for the same reason that Doom was pirated to Hell and back (Bad pun, I know!). id made a game that was, at least for the time, ground breaking. I couldn't believe the 3D engine when I first played it. It was completely and unashamedly incredible. I had goosebumps the same way when I played Doom back in '93 on my Dads mono laptop. Couldn't see a thing, but I knew I was playing something verrry special. Then we got a 386SX-25 and I was hooked! Getting back on-topic, Unreal 1 had unbelievable eye candy, was massively playable, great multiplayer and an enormous game. Absolutely huge... That made it a gamers game, much like Doom and Quake. Unreal 2 had great eye candy (Not quite as eye popping as Unreal 1's) but was stuck by no multiplayer and a teeny game. I think I've played bigger demo's. People bought it based on Unreal, UT and UT2003, and were unsurprisingly disappointed, even though the eye-candy was all there. So eye-candy alone does not a good game make... I mean, look at the popularity of Tetris, still!!!!
