Guest OpenWebdesign Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Hi! Is it mistake or Liquid E will have FM radio enabled? http://www.androidguys.com/2010/05/03/acer...ontract-rogers/ The phone has five home screen panels, Quick Contacts to go between the phone’s contacts and social networks, Live wallpapers, a new keyboard layout, and a 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen. The handset also has a 5MP camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, up to 32GB microSD slot, FM radio, and a custom UI built by Acer.
Guest Borkata Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 No, there is no FM Radio in the Liquid. This was discussed already and you can find by searching forum that Liquid HAS FM Radio Receiver and if it is written that Liquid E will have FM radio it just means that Acer will enable it :P
Guest jayziac Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 This was discussed already and you can find by searching forum that Liquid HAS FM Radio Receiver and if it is written that Liquid E will have FM radio it just means that Acer will enable it :P Yeah I saw that in some of the news announcements too, hope it's not a typo. It's technically possible, and makes sense for Acer to just enable it. Can't wait for the official 2.1 ROM for my A1.
Guest Borkata Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Another thing is that in Froyo aka Android 2.2 FM radio support will be enabled by default. Problem now for manufactures is that they have to rewrite bluetooth stack and make own adjustments to the OS no matter if it is 1.5 (LG has radio in this version), 1.6 or 2.1. Version 2.2 will fix this, but we are still waiting for 2.1 :P and Froyo knocks on Nexus door :D

I said no :D To be clear: The Liquids hardware has FM radio, but it is not activated/enabled/missing driver....whatever.
Guest Borkata Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Acer A1 has Broadcom BCM4325 chip - which include Bluetooth, Wifi and... FM. Check this link: http://www.broadcom.com/products/Bluetooth...lutions/BCM4325
Guest three_pineapples Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Well, the OP asked if it was enabled. I said no :P To be clear: The Liquids hardware has FM radio, but it is not activated/enabled/missing driver....whatever. If you reread the OP, you'll see he was asking about the liquid E which hasn't been released yet and as such you have no information about whether it is enabled in this model or not. Since the hardware is capable on the liquid, it seems highly likely that Acer will keep it in the liquid E and enable it
Guest skitbra8934 Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 any ROM's have fm working nope, the bluetooth chip supports it but until the commands to activate and use it gets known nobody can use it. there are other devices out there that have same chip and have the FM radio working but they dont want to share the device specific commands to use it. acer could if they wanted but they most likely dont want to. wich is why im moving to another phone that has FM radio and chucks the liquid on the missus instead.
Guest Chewy11 Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Thanks for the heads up! This is what I thought....sad but true. To all those involved, thanks, this feature would make my day, or at least try your ROM.
Guest dimitrisKM Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 which phone has the same chipset as liquid and has fm radio working?
Guest Borkata Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 which phone has the same chipset as liquid and has fm radio working? First android phone of LG. Can't remember exact name.
Guest noxwell Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 It's weird, but Acer support said me, that there is no FM in liquid (but I don't believe them )
Guest Morris Lee Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 No FM OOB for my liquid E, neither does installing Froyo enables it (well, I don't think anyway) sigh...
Guest gdfath3r Posted December 14, 2010 Report Posted December 14, 2010 which phone has the same chipset as liquid and has fm radio working? It seems that nexus1 has fm support by comunity : http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/07/13/ne...a-rom-near-you/
