Nandroid backup: nandroid standard vs. nadroid +ext

Can someone please explain me the difference between standard nandroid and nandroid + ext backup?

If I'm running A2SD and choose standard nandroid, will this backup include downloaded apps? Cause ext backup ends with an error, saying something about running nandroid-mobile.sh via ADB.

Nandroid + ext backups all of the phone's filesystems + the partition on the sdcard where app2sd stores your downloaded apps, so if you use app2sd, you should use "nandroid + ext"

Im using the original rooted stock ROM by Paul which I flashed using the very first linux root method.

Will Nandroid back up work for this ROM? or can you only backup custom ROMs?
