Guest Dan Mullen Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 I am currently stuck in a cycle whereby on startup I get a force close on android.process.acore, plus gapps and phone processes. The result is I can't get to my homescreen - I don't even get to enter my SIM lock code. My phone's unusable at the moment - going to try to reflash MCR3.2, really hoping I don't have to do a wipe :P

Not sure what can be the problem ? Edited May 5, 2010 by Dr. dre
Guest Dan Mullen Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 This process contains Contacts, Home and a couple of other things (providers). Not sure what can be the problem ? It's really strange - my phone was absolutely fine, I hadn't just installed anything or made any changes at all. I just went to go to bed and plug it in to charge, but it popped up with the force close error. I ended up rebooting, pulling the battery, etc. but the same thing happens. Also, I tried to run a nand+ext backup this mornng and it ran for about 50 minutes before stopping!

Now I'm baffled - gone into recovery mode, entered an ADB shell and everything's gone - nothing in /system, /data or anywhere else!!! That doesn't seem possible, it shouldn't even boot. Wonder if it's just a problem with files and directory contents not being displayed?

Guest Carl_Brummy Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 adb remount won't work... this is very frustrating! Sounds possible that the internal flash memory has become corrupted...if you have a full backup of everything so you could try a complete wipe/reflash then attempt a restore from recent nand+ext backup. Carl.

Carl. Typical - I used to do a full nand+ext once a week, but since MCR3.2 arrived I haven't been flashing ROMs so haven't backed up as often. After reflashing without a wipe, I'm getting the same errors but I can adb remount. Does anyone have any other suggestion before I do a full wipe? Thanks

Thanks My thought there, is that with the reflash you have at least restored the basic internal system structures allowing access via adb, but application settings, etc may still be missing/corrupt. And this could include sense configs. You could wipe the dalvik-cache only and try that first, as this would be rebuilt on access to the apps (if I am not mistaken). If that was still on your phone and not the external card, then this may help... Carl.

I restored from an old nandroid backup and it's working again, I've just lost the last six weeks of messages, installed apps and - most importantly - game high scores :P
Guest masterpfa Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 I do not know if this is same as I had, but could it be a faulty SD card. A problem I had similar to this, where the SD was visible on my PC, but problems backing up files etc. I had only tried backing up my card because I was getting FC's then boot loops and wanted to start afresh. Hope you solve the problem soon
