Guest James Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 IA album are currently working on IA Album Version 2.0 and would like suggestions for this new release, i think this is a really good idea and it shows they are really listening to what people think. Maybe we should post our suggestions here so they don’t get hundreds of the same suggestions. See here for the suggestion web page:- http://www.iastyle.com/smartphone/wishlist.asp
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 Full-screen preview and the filename displayed in preview mode. edit: and permanent backlight in slideshow...
Guest James Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 1. Colour enhancement option 2. Selection of storage card folders not just whole card. 3. Take pics for the resolution of the SPV screen (176,200)
Guest madu Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 That's what I submitted: GUI - PgUP/PgDN. Sort by.. Optimised picture view (decreased quality after update, goes 'squares' at far less zoom). SIZE/TIME - It takes a while to load and takes a lot of memory. I assume Camera/Photo is combined. How possible is it to load Camera module on it's own to be able to take a pic quicker?!? (And load a full combined when started as 'Photo') SERVICE - How about a 'tiny size/memory' module that would take a pic in background just by clicking 'Voice rec' or other button. Ofcourse using settings preset on launch/in main GUI. FOLDER - particular folder view. Faster and only shws a certain 'gallery' of pics. EMAIL - multiple files ASSOCIATE - file extensions with IA Album to run from Explorer. IE - view IE cache pictures. Say, also filtering obvious 'button' images and 'tabs', but including actual pics (ie: >5kb, >10x10) EXIT is a good menu option!! [that includes the rest of your apps] PS: Good work. Looking fwd to future IA soft. PPS: Resize, save as, compress (sizewise), multiple file zip&email??
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 Exit is against the Microsoft certification requirements, so i wouldn't hold your breath....
Guest fraser Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 How does that work, Mono? Are the apps supposed to exit automatically after a pre-determined length of time, or stay resident forever? On a device lacking (by default) a task manager, that's a pretty strange decission.
Guest spacemonkey Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 The apps are supposed to remain in the background for quick reloading if you run them again. The OS at some point will nominat old unclosed apps and send them a quit message to ask them to shut down. The idea that microsoft is coming from is that it's a phone, so things should just run on it with no user concept of opening and closing. More the user just says, "open this now" then "open the next thing now". Leaving them open in the background means commonly used stuff will already be opened so will reload faster. I personally don't agree with it (especially for more demanding apps like games) but that's the call microsoft made.
Guest Richie M Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 I personally don't agree with it (especially for more demanding apps like games) but that's the call microsoft made. and also the more apps you have running in the "background" the slower it gets ;) I'd rather have a quicker responding phone than quicker opening apps
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 2, 2003 Report Posted April 2, 2003 I agree with spacemonkey (not agreeing ;p). Like he says, its the idea that the application will stay running until the memory its taking is needed, at which point it will be automatically closed. Its nothing new, the same principles apply in PocketPC. You don't ~actually~ close the app when you tap the (x), it just "removes" the GUI, and stays running until the WinCE engine requires the memory for another application. As spacemonkey says though, the drawbacks of this is that WinCE isn't particulary good at managing this "useable" memory, and will hang or throw up low mem errors if too much rubbish is running in the background. I have a bookmark for the MS Certification (not signing) requirements at home i think, i'll post it up here (again) when i get in.
Guest madu Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 I agree that it's supposed to be a phone and as such - no exit.... But then - what? - 3% of SPV users actually think of it as an actual phone - I think of it as a mobile device that is less phone than a PC... So that's pretty stupid by MS.. And yes, Richie, "I'd rather have a quicker responding phone than quicker opening apps"!!
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 3% of SPV users actually think of it as an actual phone 3% of SPV users on this forum...
