Guest Frankish Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 If i convert my ext2 partition to EXT3 will i lose all data on the ext2 partition? I know on windows converting fat>ntfs etc keeps files intact but at some point i managed to completely delete my SD card but i think that was the partitioning stage and not the converting to ext3.

Guest Pyr0x64 Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 converting from the recovery console works without losing data too
Guest Xeronage Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Under linux: 'tune2fs -j' turns on the journalling. ie ext2->ext3. No data loss.
Guest PaulW21781 Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 No added benefit at all for converting from ext2 to ext3, if anything, speeds will be reduced (aswell as available space) due to the journaling information used.
Guest Frankish Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 I saw everyone was saying ext3 is better so i did it. Through the phone and no data loss. Thanks guys.
