Guest David_P Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Hi All, It seems like there isn't currently a lot of choice regarding cases for the desire. Can anyone make any reccommendations? David_P
Guest daveba Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 Hi All, It seems like there isn't currently a lot of choice regarding cases for the desire. Can anyone make any reccommendations? David_P Most iphone or nexus one cases work well as they are all pretty much the same dimensions. I'm using a beyzacases vintage tan iphone case and it fits perfectly. www.gadgetgear.co.uk/iphone-3g-leather-case-vintage-plus-bessie.html
Guest snear Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 Theres quite a few on eBay now . I've just ordered a silicone one .
Guest crisdo98 Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 Theres quite a few on eBay now . I've just ordered a silicone one . I bought this one from Amazon and highly recommend it. It doesn't look like the picture ie. it's not black but grey and doesn't have black rubber stripe across the back. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Accessory-Village-...mp;sr=8-1-fkmr3
Guest DaveGrohl Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 I've just ordered this one mobilefun.co.uk/alu-leather-case-htc-desire-google-nexus-one-p23580.htm It's out of stock at the moment but I emailed them and they said they're expecting 'soon' there are plenty of other cases on the site though. Hope this helps :P
Guest LouiS22 Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 (edited) Though HTC claims that their PO-C310 case is not compatible with Desire, yet the phone perfectly fits in it. I've bought this case for my Hero, and now happily using with Desire. Edited May 6, 2010 by LouiS22

Guest afiorillo Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 (edited) I'm looking forward as Brando releases its "Dots Pattern Soft Plastic Case" for the Desire, I had one for my former Hero and it was great. Thin, sturdy, almost invisible once installed, cheap. Pictured below is the Hero one: Edited May 6, 2010 by afiorillo
Guest Shofar1 Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Has anyone tried the ADVERTISING SPAM or Proporta leather cases? As I don't want to use a screen protector I want the best protection for the Desire. It does need to be functional too. Thanks, Shofar1
Guest afiorillo Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 (edited) [...] As I don't want to use a screen protector [...] You should give a try to Brando's UltraClear screen protector: once installed you cannot even guess there's one on the display and the touch responsiveness isnt' altered at all. Moreover, years after installing it doesn't change at all. A trick: install it in your bathroom, not wearing any clothes that can disperse fibers, with carefully washed hands, after having the hot water flowing for a minute or two (allow a little vapor fog): this will bring the dust to the floor allowing you to do a one-shot, perfectly clean installation. Here's for the Desire. :P P.S.: I'm not affiliated with Brando Workshop: aside for the tons of crapgadgets it produces, these two items are very, VERY well ingegnerized. :D Edited May 7, 2010 by afiorillo
Guest Michelle My Belle Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 I've just ordered a Piel Frama for my Desire. Protection is everything to me. Pricey but they're good cases - got one for my Omnia and still looks like new after 1 year. http://www.pielframa.com/htc-desire-cases.htm or http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?partner=modaco&i=199694 MMB.

Looks good and as I said I have one for my Palm T5 for many years - Doesn't look new anymore but to torn threads, still a great case. But it is close to 3X the cost of ProPorta or other quality leather cases. Is it that much better?
Guest Han-Droid Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 got one question: all these skins and silicone-cases...has anyone experience what happens if dirt gets between case and desire? i remember an old nokia 6230 which had bad scratches all over...all from the dust "in between"
Guest Kh0shHalam Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Even though I am not fan of screen protectors I've ordered one from Zagg (invisible shield) and I must admit it's amazing. It's barely noticeable and does not affect screen's sensitivity :P
Guest poldie Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 (edited) I've just ordered this one mobilefun.co.uk/alu-leather-case-htc-desire-google-nexus-one-p23580.htm It's out of stock at the moment but I emailed them and they said they're expecting 'soon' there are plenty of other cases on the site though. Hope this helps :P That looks like a more expensive version of a case I got from them (Mobile Fun). The problem is it uses a magnet to hold itself closed, which interferes with the compass in the phone, meaning you can't use Google Maps, Wikitude, Layar, Sky etc without taking the phone out of the case, which is just stupid. I got my money back but they don't seem to want to refund my postage, despite me making clear in my emails/letter that it's their responsibility to refund return postage if an item is faulty (`not fit for purpose` is how the Sale Of Goods Act puts it). Update: I got my postage refunded subsequently. Edited May 14, 2010 by poldie

It's barely noticeable and does not affect screen's sensitivity :P I returned my invisishield as the screen became rough to touch (well not rough but no longer had that flowing smoothness as you swiped your finger across it). Slight orange peel effect bugged me as well. I had higher expectations.
Guest minihassan Posted May 10, 2010 Report Posted May 10, 2010 I Bought this from ebay and to be honest im in uk no shops have any at moment and for price bargain fits perfectly looks good too 320525105283 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT FOR £2 cant go wrong 3 day for deliv
Guest journey1215 Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 (edited) Hi All, It seems like there isn't currently a lot of choice regarding cases for the desire. Can anyone make any reccommendations? David_P This is a nice topic, I had a Nokia for more than 2 years, I like the case to be simple and decent and the color should be light, don't the colorful pattern, I like the Nokia silicone case than other material, such as the plastic or metal, like this one Edited May 17, 2010 by journey1215
Guest yabolek Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Just wondering, isn't it better to use gelaskins or invisible skins? Those cases look cheap and nasty IMO (not to mention you'll have trouble fitting yout phone in car/desk dock).
Guest caponi Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 I'm using the "Valenta Zipp Case Large". It fits perfectly and keeps sand and dust outside :) The reason why i've chosen this one, is because the screen of my old HTC Diamond has been scratched due to a very small amount of sand that entered my HTC pouch (which has openings on the top and the bottom).
Guest irishandrew Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 (edited) I use the HTC PO S491 - I bought it from expansys last october for my hero, and was pleasantly surprised when my desire fit perfectly in it. Tis a soft black pouch with microfiber lining. Advertised for legend/hero but desire fits better IMHO. http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?partner=modaco&i=198547 £10.99 incl. VAT, delivered it's around £12. Edited May 17, 2010 by irishandrew
Guest afiorillo Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Speaking of Expansys, this one looks promising. I'm getting one now. http://www.expansys.it/d.aspx?i=199992
