PLEASE HELP - error's while attempting root.

Hi

im currently in the process of trying to root my desire, ive got as far as putting the phone into recovery mode

# In the terminal window, enter either 'step2-windows.bat'

when i try to do step 2 i get an error (see attatchement), ive searched the forums as best i can and done a few google searches but am no closer to fixing it.

help would be graet

EDIT: having gone through step1 again there is another error which i assume is causing my problem (see second attatchement).

Following the advice of people on XDA-Developers i have re-installed HTC Sync and i am now getting a different error but am no closer to rooting my device,

please help

*exactly* the same error here. help!! i am stuck at the screen with only the phone-symbol and a red warning-triangle with an explamation mark in it ?!?

update: tried "r3" and it worked like a charm! so .. sorry...windows-based rooting is crap. Actually, I'd like to WARN EVERYONE: do not use WINDOWS for rooting - linux-solution is "solid". Just dl the tinycore-linux-boot-cd and you'll be happy!

(was almost wetting my pants when i removed the battery!! ) *g*

I found no solution to that problem. I tried the tinycore live cd as well as the windows method and I got the exact same error. I eventually got root by using my laptop instead of my desktop and it worked flawlessly.

Try another computer.
