Hi,

I have achieved Root, Recovery and the initial ROM from the root process. However i havent been able to flash any other rom other than that one, and all of them have been APP2SD roms.

I have tried various memory cards, goldcard and not goldcard, before every flash i have wiped everything and all i get on evil/pays/pauls kitchen app2sd rom is boot loop.

I have root as i use Titanum backup and wifi tether, the root process went perfect no errors such as hboot 90 etc

I use either step 2 of the processs or recovery-windows.bat to get to recovery

Ive tried booting without mem card in and same result.

Can anyone suggest anything to help?

Thanks

Stu

I've got a quite similar problem, with any a2sd-rom so far my desire freeezes when booting at the first splash-screen (not even reaching "quietly brilliant"). seems have something to do with my 0.80 HBOOT.

Nope. I get this as well with 0.75 HBOOT. Only method that ever worked 100% for me was flashing Pauls R1 Rootedupdate ROM and then the attached A2SD patch.

When it was working 100% I had 64Mb swap partition, 1024Mb ext3 partition and the rest as FAT32. I created all partitions under Ubuntu.

Worth noting that the partitions must be in a particular order. From memory, it has to be fat32, ext2 then (optionally) linux-swap.

SDCard is a class 4 Sandisk 8Gb.

EDIT: There is a rumour that the attached patch doesnt include the WiFi kernel module and kills WiFi. This is correct, however:

1) It doesn't reformat the system partition as it is a 'patch'

2) I've just reflashed a full ROM and then this patch and A2SD, WiFi etc works just fine (see below).

# lsmod

bcm4329 189304 0 - Live 0xbf000000

flashing the a2sd file also sent my desire into a bootloop.

so i tried again and received:

E:cant symlink /system/xbin/[

E:failure at line 5: symlink busybox SYSTEM:xbin/[

i then tried again after a restore, followed this (sd root at bottom):

and again bootloop :P

If you can post logcat output we might be able to figure out what's happening. You can do this by going to the tools folder in the sdk and running 'adb logcat'. You can output it to a text file but I'm using my phone and the android keyboard is missing some symbols :P

I thought id try getting rid of variables, so i tried forgetting about gold cards etc and just grabbed a 1gb untouched sd card, and it worked. I cant use the sd cards i have converted to goldcards. I thought that would be possible ? As they can still be used as mem cards.

Is there a way to take these goldcards back to original?

cheers

to confirm, using a non branded desire, i was unable to successfully flash a ROM using a Micro SD goldcard.
