Guest pdq Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Hi! I`m sucessfully rooted my Desire, so I want to install new MoDaCo ROM. I included A2SD via online kitchen, so I need create new partitions on my SD card. I readed this forum and founded something like that: -64MB of SWAP -space you need for program of EXT2 -rest space for FAT32 I use Windows XP SP3 and I don`t have Linux, so I downloaded Acronis Disk Director and made with my SD this: (click to enlarge, watch for Disk 2) But after this I can`t use my SD card! My computer just didn`t see it. Also, when I insert it into Desire, it says to me: "Unsupported SD card. Press OK to format". So I really can`t use it. After formatting I can use it, of course, but it just 4GB SD card of FAT32, without partition that I need, that reqiured A2SD. What I did wrong? What I must to do to sucessfully create new partition that I need for A2SD and my SD work? Please, help me. Thanks.
Guest VeeDubZ Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Imo found that the GpartEd live cd works best well works first time just make sure that you put the fat32 sector first then the ext3 after that, if your not using Linux then you don't really need a swap partition I think
Guest pdq Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Hm. So that guide was not so good, because I created ext2 (not ext3), and I create it first so FAT32 became second partition. I`ll try now create FAT32 first then EXT3 with Acronis.
Guest pdq Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 (edited) I did it! Wiped and deleted all partition, then created FAT32 partition, then created EXT3. My Desire see and work with SD with that partition, also I can use on computer but only when SD in device with usb-debug mode. Without debug mode computer doesn`t see SD. Now it looks like: Now I`ll try to install MoDaCo ROM with A2SD and install few apps to see - work A2SD or not. Edited May 9, 2010 by pdq
Guest pdq Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Hm... I got infinity boot loop. Now I`ll try add swap-partition. Any ideas why I have loop?
Guest romvahav Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 check this out: http://android.modaco.com/content-page/307...0/#entry1256969 look at the part that you need (how to partition the SD card)
Guest VeeDubZ Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Try wiping the data on the recovery screen, clear all the options in the wipe category. I think that was what did it for mine, I've changed time that many times over the last few days its starting to blur a bit lol
Guest pdq Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 (edited) Hm. I read that nobody use swap partition, so now I`m deleted all partition and creating FAT32 and EXT2 (not 3) partitions. 20 minutes left. But before this I tried to reflash device - no results, loop boot again. romvaha Thx, if re-partitioning wouldn`t help me, I`ll try that method. VeeDubZ I`m already wiped ALL option before flashing ROM. So... *p.s: but without SD my device booted. So problem not in ROM, but in SD. Edited May 9, 2010 by pdq
Guest pdq Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 lol I noticed that I can made partition right in recovery menu of Desire. And it helped me! Desire booted without re-flashing.
