Bootup Sound / Animation

After getting root I tried the good old version of replacing the Bootups.

So I moved the old files and copied bootanimation.zip and android_audio.mp3 to /system/media/

Nothing changes.

Maybe done the wrong?

So i pulled the files out and heared and watched the bootup.

My next try was: copy to /data/local

The Bootanimation changed, but the sound doesn't.

Found someone a way to replace the sound and the bootanimation?

I'm more interested in replacing the sound in great one like Super-Mario or the harddrive-sounds of old computers or so on...

Any suggestions?

Hi,

To change the sound, I did:

  • I remove(rename) the file /system/media/android_audio.mp3
  • I replace(rename+add) the file /system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3

I also change the bootanimation.zip, but since (I tried in '/data/local'), I have a wonderful black screen during my custom sound :P

Cheers,

W.

Wow, sh*t, thank you, I try it later ... :P

I looked once on this folder -> saw nothing. ...

Now I try it. :D You get feedback. Later.

€: Seems not to be working. T__T''

My Phone is quite silent...

Ringtone: full

Notification: full

Made this:

Renamed all files on /system/media and /system/customize/resource/ in .bak

and copied here: /system/media ; /system/customize/resource/ ; /data/local/

Nothing worked... God Dammnit?!

€²: Had in /system/media ; /system/customize/resource/ ; /data/local/ the android_audio.mp3

Now changed following (Holded the .../cust./res./and_aud.mp3 there...) :

Removed /system/media/android_audio.mp3

-> Nothing

Removed /data/local/android_audio.mp3

-> Nothing

After that: Added /system/media/android_audio.mp3

-> Nothing

The Bootanimation (Cyanogen-Nexus-Bootanimation... For testings great...) is in /data/local/ ; /system/media/ ; /system/cust./res./

-> Works. Now trying what I can remove... :P

€³: WTF.

Now I deleted bootanimation from /system/media

-> Have a black screen, but a sexy bootup sound. oô (GLaDOS ftw.)

What the funk. Now examining the bootanimation.zip from HTC.

Any more suggestions?

Edit 4:

Now I found out the problems.

What we need is all here:

/system/customize/resource/

-> bootanimation.zip

-> android_audio.zip

Now I found out, only the HTC Bootupanimation works. I dunno how to build these ZIPs, I worked with HxD and found nothing in the ZIP-Header.

I think it is something with the desc.txt and the filenames of the PNGs.

This mean that:

desc.txt:

480 800 15

p 1 1 android

Filename:

wvga_htc_bootup_android_104f_15fps_005spf 01.png

wvga -> Screenresolution

htc -> yeah, you know.

bootup -> maybe its' there because it's in the bootupanimation? ;D

android -> folder, bootupanimation.zip has only the folder android -> look in the desc.txt above

104f -> Maybe Frames? I have only 78 Frames in the HTC-Bootup

15fps -> desc.txt -> the Frames per Seconds

005spf -> Dunno. SoundPerFile?

01 -> Frame. ...

Now I need help. I know: Other Bootanimations doesn't play sounds.

No Animations play sounds.

HTC Animation play a sound too.

Anyone build Bootanimations? Any Help? Maybe we can f*ck this file, and build awesome animations with SUPER GREAT SOUNDS. :P

Helphelp!

actually the ZIPs are nothing special, except that they have to be with zero compression (sometimes also referred as "store only" in certain compression progs). in addition the PNGs for the animation have to be 24bit. 32bit will not work, trust me, I spend a whole night rebooting and flashing to find this out. The PNGs don't have to be a certain name, the have to be numbered though.

Check this stuff first. I don't have time to look up the proper directories now, but maybe in the next couple of days.

But if I recall correctly: when you use the data/local folder the animation has to consist of part0 and part1 for it to work. the desc file has to be changed accordingly. part0 is the animation that is looping and part1 is the still image shown after the animation loop until the bootup has finished. in this case a proper desc.txt looks like this:

480 800 30

p 1 0 part0

p 0 0 part1

@jullejul: in your case, your PNGs are compressed and 32bit. MS Paint automatically saves PNGs to 32bit. Use a different tool to save them as 24bit without the alpha channel (e.g. Pixelformer/Photoshop). Hope that helps.
