Possible to correct/modify a number before dial?

hi guys,

I have a question concerning the htc dialer or the android dialers in general:

moving from nokia and siemens phones to android, I often used functions to modify numbers before dialing.

For example if I phone a company's central (-0) and they gave me the desired direct contact number (-123), I could modify the number before redialing.

Or when I copy a phonenumber from a website and want to add a 0 in front...

Or when I mistyped the number and just want to correct the 2nd digit

How does all this work?! I can't find arrow-keys on android and neither can't click somewhere in the number in the dialier.
