Morning all,

just heard about an OTA for the O² Desire announced by O² for tomorrow - http://ht.ly/1J49E (German).

I guess rooted phones should not be flashed with that right?

But what happens if one applies that update? Will the phone just be unrooted and running or will it break and you have to restore a nandroid or reflash/reroot?

Paul said somewhere 0.80 hboot users should never ever apply any official update - is there a chance the 0.80 gets updated too and makes the phone unrootable?

I would never apply an official update full stop. If they flash a new hboot and recovery, bye bye chances of rooting.

It's better to wait for another HTC Desire update for non-branded devices and for the cookers to prepare new rooted ROM based on it.

Thanks for your answers. I'm just curious what the O² Update might fix/replace - is it safe to leave the system software update check enabled?

Might try to sniff the url and grab that outside my phone.

Don't have any issues with r2 so far :P

Hey mountnorth,

just wait a little until the community checked the update.

One day after the OTA it will be available if really something new pops up.

When you root the phone, does it still try to get updates directly from the phone's original provider, or can the phone be changed to ping HTC directly for updates.
