Guest Weirdo109 Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 I have a stock Pulse with the december update. It seems all of a sudden the downloads from the Marketplace have stopped. When I go to the My Dowloads section it shows the progress bar scrolling saying Starting Download but doesn't actually do anything. I looked at the settings but can't spot anything.
Guest Weirdo109 Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 is it working with wifi? I'm only usingg Wi-Fi, my data is turned off as I am on PAYG. It's worked before.

I had this yesterday. The market app doesnt like it when the phone goes into standby. Cancel and outstanding downloads. Wait then retry to download one at a time
Guest Weirdo109 Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 cleaned the market-cache? How? I have tried several times to cancel the download and then retry, still no different.
Guest eckengucker1 Posted May 13, 2010 Report Posted May 13, 2010 go to settings=>apps=>choose market=> clean cache
Guest Weirdo109 Posted May 13, 2010 Report Posted May 13, 2010 go to settings=>apps=>choose market=> clean cache Thanks Did that and made no difference.
Guest david_dawkins Posted May 13, 2010 Report Posted May 13, 2010 I found a solution on Google forums that works for me: Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications: 1. Market -> Clear cache > (BACK) 2. Download Manager -> Clear data Et voila.

Guest eckengucker1 Posted May 13, 2010 Report Posted May 13, 2010 Can you download files with Opera/webbrowser?
Guest Weirdo109 Posted May 13, 2010 Report Posted May 13, 2010 Can you download files with Opera/webbrowser? Managed to download an image file hosted on my web site through the default browser. Still no luck with marketplace
Guest eckengucker1 Posted May 13, 2010 Report Posted May 13, 2010 It seems the best way is to full wipe your phone and reinstall Android. You can backup all data you need using Titanium Backup and restore it afterwards
Guest n4nick Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 I found a solution on Google forums that works for me: Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications: 1. Market -> Clear cache > (BACK) 2. Download Manager -> Clear data Et voila. I had to register just to post this.. the above worked for me - finally! I've been googling for ages to find this solution. I think the key thing (that I had not tried before) was to clear data for the Download Manager. Just for the record, the problem I had was that downloads failed (from the Market only) for apps greater than about 150kb. I had tried many other things, including new Gmail accounts to no avail. Thought I was going to have to factory wipe the device... thanks :)

You can backup all data you need using Titanium Backup and restore it afterwards Installed the app after downloading it from the net on my PC and it says the phone has to be rooted. I'm more concerned as to how this issue has arisen and why it can't be fixed without wiping the phone. Would this be something Tmobile tech support could solve. Also is there a net based site where all the apps on the marketplace can be downloaded or is it phone only.
Guest Minus616 Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 This happens to me a few times, my apps get stuck on "Starting download" 1) Stop all downloads 2) Go to wireless settings -> mobile network settings -> Switch off data service (I also switch to 2g only network, but not sure if this affects it) 3) Wait around 2/3 minutes 4) Turn data services back on (and back to 3g if you switched it off) 5) Try the downloads again This works 9/10 times for me.

Did you get your Pulse when it came out? Are you using it on T-Mobile PAYG still? Did you get the 6 month internet plan when you bought your Pulse? If you answered yes to all of those Qs, your 6 months is up, and T-Mobile will have disabled your data, you need to get some more. (It came out a the start of November:) ) Don't ask me why I know :) Edited May 14, 2010 by giryan

So data plan not applicable. This is doing it when using Wi-Fi (as well as data).

I think I did a power-down and restart and that seemed to fix the problem.
Guest Lord_Shaithis Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Got the same problem here......seemed to happen the moment I switched my gogglemail account for a gmail..... Can't even find the app to do the initial setup of the phone on the 1.7 vanilla rom...
Guest starkos Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Weirdo109, try opening up the gtalk app & make sure it signs u in before you download anything from the market. May not work for you, but it does for me whenever I get the hanging at starting download...
