So is this now rooted or is there more i need to do?

Have you tried to flash another ROM or Apps2sd?? If it works then yes, if not you have your answer :)

When you go to your programs, do you see "Superuser Permissions" listed?

If so, I believe you are rooted.

Hi Guys.

Thanks for the reply

When i look in All Programs i dont see SuperUser.

I have just loaded a generic rom on at the moment, i copied the rootupdate.zip to my sd card and booted in to recovery mode. When i run the recovery-windows.bat i get a device not found message but i have all the USB drivers installed.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

No, at the moment you are not rooted.

You have simply installed a stock HTC ROM onto your phone.

Try following this guide if you wish to root

P.S.

Please don't take offence but if you are unsure of whether you are rooted or not at the moment I have to wonder whether you actually require root.

Anyone who actually requires root access would not be asking "do i have root?"

When in recovery, I had to remove the device in control panel, (My HTC), disconnect the phone, reconnect the phone, allow Windows to re install and then try again.

unplug your phone, open task manager in windows, kill process "adb" or "adb-windows" or something like that, than plug your phone back in. that did the trick for me! :)

When in recovery (red exclamation), open control panel in Windows, unplug and plug your phone back in. Take note of what what device disappears and re-appears.

With the device still attached, right click on it and press remove device

When this has completed, restart the computer, and when restarted reinsert the device and let Windows re install the device. And try again.

You do have HTC Sync installed do you?
