Guest bostwickenator Posted May 13, 2010 Report Posted May 13, 2010 (edited) There seems to be a glut of Chinese android tablets appearing on ebay at the moment. Most of these are based on the Rockchip 2808 check the link for details on wikipedia. These devices all seem to have 7 inch resistive touch screens with a resolution of 800x480 along with a sd card reader wifi and android 1.5 or 1.6. Having just purchased one of these I would be very interested to hear any discussion about them (mine doesn't arrive for a couple of weeks). The main devices I amd interested in are the aPad and iRobot M003 devices(which are hopefully identical hardware wise) they have a cream or silver case and a MicroSD card slot. There has already been some advance in creating custom ROMs for Eken devices(Eken M001) due the the manufacturer releasing a update file which has since been tinkered with. The aPad devices run slightly different hardware and probably require a different base ROM. How does one dump the ROM of one of these devices for modification? Any pointers? all I can find is a unhelpful mass of instructions on how to run pre-written rooting tools. Edited May 13, 2010 by bostwickenator

Over on xda I saw a thread for the Eken tablet where someone had created some sort of custom rom for it. Very similiar device. I would have a search through the forums there.
Guest Simon O Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 http://www.slatedroid.com has a lot of information about these tablets along with rooting guides and custom roms for some devices like the Eken
