News Widget Not Updating

Has anyone experienced any problems with the News Widget not updating ?

Since rooting phone using r4 everything is running 100% except my phone 'news widget' just wont update for some reason, if you open the news application it works fine and updates fine, but widget just don't want to play

Be interested to see if anyone has had a similar problem or if there is a solution?

Are you talking about HTC's News RSS widget? Mine didn't update automatically since I bought the phone. Looked for a solution but find none :)

Yes, seemed to work ok until rooted, now not working at all, my partner has desire also and hers is working fine ???????? very strange ???????? anyone else had same issue?

just read post on xda - not alone - but without a solution!!!

wonder what the problem is, like I said my partners phone has no issue where as mine does, very strange.

Figured a work around for problem: after a bit messing about with options, I find if you turn phone off and back on, set your update for news feeds to every 1hr and do not try to do a manual update the widget will work and update fine, if you do manual update for some strange reason it can result in it not updating again and you have to turn phone back of and on again.

In short avoid doing manual updates and let you news update automatically and the widget works fine, seems this problems only effects some handset also.

I am having the same problem too... still unable to solve this problem. However I had just found the solution from a website that advise not to use task killer, which I used all the time. I am not sure this will solve the problem, I just try out yesterday. Will keep everyone update if it works.
