The package management system can offer additional appplications which one doesn't have on the Android. As e.g. could be seen with Ubuntu or Debian.

For me also personally: I wanted to see what it offers just out of curiosity, since MeeGo seems to become a hot topic (there will be a release with GUI end of May). Will dive more into this until then and if someone joins the trip, even better.
