Guest Nick Elks Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Have had my Pulse since January. Battery usually lasts about 30 hours before dying. Just recently (the last week) it has started losing charge very quickly - from fully charged overnight it is usually dead come late afternoon. There is nothing running that would eat up this much power as far as I can tell. Does anyone else have this issue? Will T-Mobile give me a new battery if I complain? How much is a new battery & where is best to buy one? Thanks Nick

Guest Nick Elks Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Put your ear to the speaker to see if it is hissing. I sometimes have this and it eats up battery like crazy. Nope - I had that issue when I first got it, but not any more.
Guest Nirva Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Check if your phone still goes to sleep. I had the same problem some weeks ago, and it seemed that an application ( I think it was Alarm clock ) prevented it from going to sleep. Being awake 24/24 kills your battery very quick...
Guest Nick Elks Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 I 'think' it goes to sleep, but not entirely sure, now you mention it. Will keep an eye on it tomorrow - is on charge right now. Thx for the tip
Guest Nirva Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 You can check how much time your phone was running. Just go to Settings / General Info & Options / Battery History and check how much percent of the time your phone was running.

Just go to Settings / General Info & Options / Battery History and check how much percent of the time your phone was running. Good tip, that helped me some time ago also. I uninstalled battery widget and some other widgets, and now my battery lasts 3-4 days (I'm not a heavy phone user :) Percentage went down from about 20% to 2%. The widgets caused the phone to wake up a lot though the screen was off.
Guest John Hamelink Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 My battery lasts 6 hours if I am lucky, and I bought it in January also. Will T-mobile have any qualms about replacing the battery this late on?
Guest Nick Elks Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Fully charged last night. As soon as I unplugged it was at 97% Left it in sleep mode for an hour --> down to 84% Left it in sleep mode (did wake it up briefly once) for 3 hours --> down to 39% Settings > General info & option > Battery history Other usage + Since last unplugged --> Running = 49.3% --> Screen on = 7.0% Other usage + Total in all time --> Running = 24.0% --> Screen on = 10.0% So it seems that the phone is spending nearly 50% of the time running whereas usually it only spends 25% of the time running And another thing - I have the usual contacts 'sync is currently experiencing problems' error and my email and calendar sync is not working automatically. If I tap 'Synchronise now' then email and calendar sync usually works, but now I am getting an error: Sorry! Activity Data synchronization (in application Settings) is not responding. [Force close][Wait] Last resort would be a Factory data reset to see if that helps. But I'm reluctant to do that at the moment.
Guest meinnit Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 These 2 settings are MAJOR battery drains for me so try disabling them for a few days and see if it makes a difference: Settings -> Data synchronization -> Background data Settings -> Security & location -> Use wireless networks
Guest Nick Elks Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 I'm on standard 1.5 ROM. Am loathe to switch off wireless location and background data - I use them both all the time and have not until recently experienced these battery problems.
Guest Nick Elks Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 update:- I took the plunge and did a Factory data reset. This was over 61 hours ago and it is only now just about to die! It is like having a new phone again! I have not downloaded any apps, but do have data sync on. All synching working ok - even contacts. And I have done a bit of browsing. Next step will be to gradually download my favorite apps one at a time and see what effect they have. One thing I did notice before I did the reset - I did a 'adb logcat' and there seemed to be regular errors appearing concerning Google Talk. Now I only ever ran that app once, to see what it was, and never again. Wish I kept the logs to compare with now. Anyway, now I've done a reset, perhaps it is time to try out this 2.1 ROM

Turn off all your widgets, turn off wifi and data service and see how long it lasts. Mine used to last less than a day, I turned off data service because i forgot to top up one month, and it lasted for over a week on standby.
