Guest zerosignull Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) Vanila(ish) ROM V0-1 Download link: http://www.qooy.com/files/1OIUO46V/Vanila_ish__0-1.zip *** NANDROID FIRST - PLAY SAFE ** *** AND WIPE YOUR PHONE BEFORE APPLYING THIS *** Fixes ===== * WiFi - Symlinked as per R4 * CPU Throttling - This should solve a alot of instability issues Megaupload download link (Thank BoBo for uploading this to a decent host for us!!! Cheers) * English only (sorry) * based on Pauls R1 ROM (all the things that did not work in that will not work in this!!! IE Wifi) * Incorporated the STD res Pack into the HW res Pack * removed a lot of apps * replaced the core apps with the Vanilla apps (Launcher, Contacts, Phone, Etc) * Apps need odexing so it will take a good 5 minutes to boot * Enabled, I think, the Dalvik JIT * 30 ~ MB free space for apps Have not had any exceptions in the "core" apps with general day to day running :) Do get some errors when trying to run the SDK terminal emulator (Think its a root permission error) .... In general I find the speed to be better then the t-mob ROM but all things are subjective. Ive not got round to de-customizing the touchpal apk so it still t-mobified. This ROM has all the rom dev tools that come with the 2.1 image so we can now view stack traces of exceptions ;) If someone with a good internet connection can re-upload this to a decent host it would be appreciated. Please leave feedback Z Edited May 16, 2010 by zerosignull

Guest zerosignull Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Why base it on the R1 rom? When I flashed pauls roms to my phone i found them to run ok when the phone was in standby but when actually using it they would lock up randomly. So I picked R1 as its a only locked up on me once and i wanted to be as close to the HW original release as possible
Guest zerosignull Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Did you try Linpack to see JIT performance? Any results? mflops: 2.273 time: 2.38 which sounds very low for JIT enabled.
Guest HunteronX Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) Thanks a lot :) - The rom is really fast - faster than any other custom rom i've used before (1.5 or 2.1). Some bugs i've noticed are: -WiFi doesn't start -The file manager forces closes frequently -The notification bar clock is white If you can, please could you add Apps2SD, and some more live wallpapers too. Keep up the good work! ;) Edited May 16, 2010 by HunteronX

Cannot find for the life of me where that is set .... not to sure about apsToSd. just seems to have lots of issues in itself. Im going for minimalistic so if you want some more live papers you will need to download/install them from the market or original rom pack. FYI thier is some a little more eye candy you can apply in the ROM. Go into the "spare parts" app and tick on the "Fancy input menus". This makes the input menus zoom in/out when open and closed. Also in the spare bits app try un-ticking the compatibility mode and rebooting to see if that fixes file manager issues ... Edited May 16, 2010 by zerosignull

Guest JingleManSweep Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 I've postet a hint/solution concerning the cpu-throttle/instabillity: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1276448 Yes, GREAT FIND... Thanks mate!
Guest hungary Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Yes, GREAT FIND... Thanks mate! Not work. :)
Guest xarxiusxiii Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Is the colour of the clock not set in services.jar (/system/framework/services.jar)? I seem to remember that by applying a metamorph with the Vanilla MCR1.7 changed the clock from black to white, by editing this file... Of course, I could be talking rubbish :)
Guest Swiftes Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) bummer, megaupload link is down. EDIT: Maybe not, needed a refresh or two. Edited May 16, 2010 by Swiftes
Guest dadme Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Get a 2 reboots in one hour. And where is the rest of space? Only 30 mb?
Guest Daniel Williamson Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Is this supposed to be rooted or not? because mine isn't. And: adb remount adb shell chmod 6755 /system/xbin/su Dosent work :S Dan
Guest zerosignull Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Yes, GREAT FIND... Thanks mate! If you can find out exactly where it is ill take a look. That particular file is a java file and does'nt have any setable resources that i can see (i could be wrong though)
Guest Swiftes Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Just got an error: E: Can't chown/mod /data/dropbear/.ssh (No such file or directory) E: failure at line 366:
Guest zerosignull Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Is this supposed to be rooted or not? because mine isn't. And: adb remount adb shell chmod 6755 /system/xbin/su Dosent work :S Dan No. That never worked in Pauls R1 which this is based on. It on the todo list. Now have wifi working and changed the build.prop file to accurately reflect the device. Setcpu is now showing the cpu being throttle at 320Mhz along with 525 and 2XX
Guest Swiftes Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Perhaps I should try a wipe before installing? :)

Guest zerosignull Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Perhaps I should try a wipe before installing? :) Never do an upgrade of a update.zip without wiping. Its akin to installing windows in the c:\windows directory of a hard drive of a computer that already has c:\windows and a but load of apps on it. needless to say that wont go to well!!!
Guest Swiftes Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) yeah, I am new to messing around with phones, and I can understand installing windows on an existing partition :) Got it working, but no Wi-fi? :D EDIT: Just got a random lockup and restart, but I shall endeavour on ;) Edited May 16, 2010 by Swiftes
Guest zerosignull Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) yeah, I am new to messing around with phones, and I can understand installing windows on an existing partition :) Got it working, but no Wi-fi? ;) Im in the same boat as you. Just reading of what Paul has stated about installing the MCR's and in reflection knowing what the update.zip does. Wifi Has been fixed and the clock throttling has been patched as suggested. I swear the ROM has gotten faster too ! Uploading now .... If people are havng issues force closng can you : a ) Make sure u Wiped your phone before applying the update b ) tell me what app is causing the issue c ) goto "Dev tools" -> "exception browser". The last exception is on the bottom of the list. report the exception , clicking on the exception will show the stack trace. From their it may have some valuable information...
