Guest Pol Hallen Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 (edited) Happy to use a server ftp to my desire.. borning a huge problem with performance speed of network (!) On my debian I created an empty file of 10Mb of size: dd if=/dev/zero of=10Mb bs=1024k count=10 lftp -u guest ip_desire put 10Mb 10485760 bytes transferred in 120 seconds (85.2K/s) 85.2k/s??? is it correct? So, is the same speed of bluetooth.. :-( or there are some problems??? (the access point is in 2 meter near to desire) thanks :-) Pol Edited May 17, 2010 by Pol Hallen
Guest sruon Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Never tried SwiFTP but I use quicksshd (0.99$ but well worth it) for SFTP transfers (Filezilla can do that), works quite well... I get 700 kb/s - 1 mb over wireless
Guest zaphod0 Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 I second quicksshd... Just got it a few days ago. Really good for both file transfers and terminal access. Showed it to a mate, he ran "shutdown now -h" I didn't find it too funny! :)
Guest lambrospower Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 i just bought quicksshd to see the difference you are talking about and i must say i am not really impressed. with swiftp server i get 1-2mb/s transfer but with the quicksshd i maxed oiut at 1mb/s but it was around 600kb/s most of the time. it seems that the secure ftp is slower than ftp default for me.
Guest Sashimi Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 I've been using swiftp for a couple of weeks and it works pretty well except for the ~1-2mb transfert rate. Actually i'm not sure swiftp is to blame, maybe it't the highest wifi rate the phone can cope with (any wifi transfer rate test available ?). Lambrospower > secure ftp is ftp over ssh, which means the phone has to decrypt/encrypt on the fly, very CPU-time consuming, and more data overhead.
Guest lambrospower Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 i just tried websharing and it's even faster than swiftp server.
Guest Jimmy Nilsson Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 I uploaded 3 files all of them were 100MB and uploaded with a average speed of 2MB/sec with SwiFTP
