Amon_Ra Desire recovery

Was just wondering if there are any developments in having the recovery-files pushed permanently on the Desire, like the Hero etc.

Guys, there is already written:

The root process will NOT...

enable you to flash your device with a custom recovery image that can be launched easily by just holding down the volume down button when powering on

enable you to have write access to the /system partition in normal use of the device

Both of these limitations are being worked on of course.

Well, but kernel source was releases couple of days ago, maybe this will help our developers to do something about that :)

I believe they are both aware of what was previously written, they are asking for developments, ie has any progress been made from the statement you quoted.

Really? I hadn't heard this! When did this happen? I thought there was still updates being released for for Dream and Magic recovery?

I can't find that post here or in xda but I thought having read a post where a guy told that Amon Ra left the dev of the recovery and that this guy would continue it... Sorry if I were wrong :)

I hope we get a "real" recovery soon, which we hopefully don't risk bricking/damaging our devices with as easily as now...

Any update on an Amon_Ra style recovery image for the HTC Desire?

Although the Amon-Ra recovery is really nice (I used to use it on my Hero), the Clockwork recovery with ROM Manager solves all the problems neatly and will be pretty close to perfect when the 'convert EXT2 to EXT3' functionality is added. It also seems to avoid the risk of USB brick.
