Guest mooves Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Hi All, I've been looking into this seeing as I have an A8183 (Telstra 850/2100Mhz) running on Vodafone AU which uses 900/2100Mhz. This may seem illogical but can be explained by my impulsiveness... I had to have it when I saw it. So my questions are: 1. Are they internally (i.e mainboard / radio) physically identical? 2. After rooting mine and replacing the radio with the Asia WWE Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02. Does this mean my phone is now an A8181 900/2100Mhz and will no longer work on the 850Mhz Network. In *About Phone* the model number is A8181. I assume this is based on a hardware query and not set in a config file. 3. Is there a way (or app) to determine which frequency is being used? When I use a Telstra SIM it does connect / download using HSPA with good download speeds. Thanks in advance. :)
Guest Dj DeNiMz Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 i did the same as you im on vodafone as well and yes i saw it and had to get it there and then just to relise its the next g version ;) and i dont think changing the radio helps i did the same as well best bet is to either find some one with an import and trade or switch to either 3 or helstra :) guess pick the lesser evil
