Hello to NE1 interested, i is a first time SPV and laptop combo virgen, i admit it. My lap top is a wee bit broke in the IR port dept. so i aint using the phone as a modem that way. Orange in their infinate kindness - supplyed me with a USB cradle, and then told me you cant use the SPV tru it as a modem?!?

Now I seen and downloaded a USB modem driver from monolithix.org. Now that said i would need the Danish update to work? I notice that the latest is the Orange one, but my phone is very new (2days) dose that mean its sorted? (cos i still cant select the SPV as a modem)

Is the driver ment for the phone or the computer?

Any one With Any Thing vaguely relivent to say please spread ur sexy knoladge my way and relieve my mobile office (cheah right - portable porn!!) dreams.

Try going to Settings > About, and tell us the operator version. You may need to update...

Fire up the modem link on your SPV, plug it into the cradle.

XP should then pick up a new device. When it asks for a driver, point it in the direction of where you downloaded it to.

Follow the rest of the steps and hopefully you should be able to select it as a modem.

This one says ver: 3.o (build 12255) and i use windows xp.

How do you fire up the modem bit on the spv then?

It's all a little bit cleverer than the dude typing this

first of all take ur spv out the cradle then:

> go to programs

> go all the way to where u have ACCESORIES

> modem link

> and click menu activate

> then stick it in ur cradle

If you dial "*99#", without quotes, you'll be able to connect using Orange as an ISP over GPRS.

You'll also need this initalisation string: +cgdcont=1,"IP","orangeinternet","",0,0

Go to the Control Panel on your PC, plug in the phone with modem link active, then double click Phone and Modems. Click the modems tab and double click the "HTC USB Modem". You'll find the intitialisation srting box under the advanced tab.

Sorry if this is repeating a post elsewhere (not sure what is appearing where at the moment), but has anyone got any info on how to get this working with Win98.

...having got this to work fine on my PC at work (Win 2000) I returned home to find that it doesn't work on my Win98 PC at

home which is slightly annoying - everything works up until the point when

you have to go into the Properties for the newly installed USB Modem - it

returns a message saying that the driver is corrupt and to reload it...which

I did to no avail. I am guessing this is probably down to compatibility

issues with Win98 - has anyone got this function working on a Win98 PC and if so, did you encounter any problems that you had to work around?

And I fully expect the first suggestion to be "upgrade to 2000 or XP" but

this isn't an option in the short term unfortunately

All help very much appreciated

TIA

Simon
