Please please if anyone could write one i'd be enternally gratefull! ;)

i'm finding it very frustrating that there is no way of getting any files off the SPV without a USB connection/memory card reader. that means i can't get anything off my SPV at work... (the PC's at work do not support USB)

there are a few pocket pc FTP programs around, most do not even install, one installed but the screen is too large to be usable...

also if anyone knows how to do it, a basic app that can send files through IRDA would be just as usefull!

If you have access to IRDA why not use activesync? It is perfectly capable of syncing over IRDA, just not very quickly which would be the same using a different IRDA program. I have used it on a mate's PC when I didn't have my USB connection with me. I have also used the technique described by sebset elsewhere in the forum to recieve files by email.

The IRDA would be on a full-size pocket PC. i don't think you can install active sync on one of them?

i would buy an IRDA adapter or serial cable for my PC at work if it wasn't for the fact i'm not allowed to install "untested" applications on it ;)

i haven't worked out why the SPV doesn't have any capacity to send stuff except contacts by IRDA on it's own... my old siemens SL45 phone used to be able to, and thats allmost 2 years old now!

Well, one reason for that could be because it doesn't have the ability to actually browse its own filesystem without a third party application. Incidently you can use the method described by sebset to send files by email too, its just that it is complicated to do, but if you are really stuck and absoulty need to get a file off your SPV it may be worth looking into. What it boils down to basically is renaming your file to match the name of an attachment, putting it into your MAPI attachment folder and forwarding the orignal email to yourself then rename the attached file at the other end to match the filename you want.

you can use recent releases of smartexplorer and similar apps to beam files directly out of the file explorer window.

however, i'm also looking for an ftp prog so i can work on my website using my spv. mmmm....

hth,

indra
