Guest dreamdealer Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 Just been reading up about the apps to sdcard and vice verser officially incorporated into Android 2.2, although no-one probably knows the answer to this yet and I am sure there will be some sort of a workaround due to the nature of the Android development community. I am speculating, that if a 2.2 stock with root permissions rom gets released, will we be still be able to increase the phone internal storage via ap2sd+ and also save apps to the sdcard by choice though the option available in 2.2?
Guest Snarkasm Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 According to the conference, apps will only save to SD if there's not enough space on the phone. Not sure how they intend to do that, but it sounds like it's a backup option, not something user-determinable or a first-choice option.
Guest NisseGurra Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 I get more and more sure that the full root for Desire is impossible or very difficult, so froyo for desire can be a long wait...
Guest NarutoDKz Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 I found this: http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.2-highlights.html It says: "Applications can now request installation on the shared external storage (such as an SD card)."

That's not true, during the demo the guy showed how to move back and forth apps from internal memory and the SD card: it was matter of tapping a button.

That sounds good. Hopefully now we can install many apps without needing to worry about the internal memory.
Guest munkimatt Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 There's definitely a choice, I'm sure I've seen a screenshot of the selection screen and I also think I saw someone who works on Android advising on what coding to use.
Guest dreamdealer Posted May 20, 2010 Report Posted May 20, 2010 That sounds good. Hopefully now we can install many apps without needing to worry about the internal memory. with any luck yes, it would be a welcome addition, but i was under the impression its by devlopers choice if he adds the option for the user the chance to either install on to the sdcard as well as the internal memory or just the internal memory. Note that requesting installation onto the device's external media is not suitable for all applications, particularly because the external media may be removable and unmounting/remounting may disrupt the user experience and system settings. Quoted from http://developer.android.com which brings me back the question of would apps2sd still function if the developer chooses this option. I personalty cant see it been a problem, but just curious what you guys think.
